About this trip

Impact Lands In The Middle East.

Our most ambitious race yet…

Touch 6000 lives in just 1 week

Expect sand.

Expect heat.

Expect a magical Bedouin welcome.

Expect your life to never be the same again.

The Impact

The Impact Marathon Foundation has the goal of catalyzing change and supporting tangible, grassroots organisations with our funds, affirmation and a platform to tell their story

In Jordan, we have partnered up directly with the Crown Prince Foundation and focused on the biggest issue the country faces: water scarcity.

Jordan is one of the world’s most water scarce countries and with a growing population, due to their open door policy to refugees from neighbouring countries, the challenge gets greater by the day. When we blend the experience and knowledge of our partners, with our goal to find the small changes with exponential impact, we can begin to find ways to tackle the biggest problems.

We will be blending two very different, small, powerful organisations that tackle Water & Sanitation from two very different angles to bring the intangible nature of The Global Goals to be relatable, understandable and real for our Impact Runners.

The Race

Are you ready for the race of a lifetime?

After five days working and living in our stunning Athletes' Village in the desert, it's time to run through it. Through the community, through the solitude of the stunning landscapes, through the depths of your inner strength, the ultimate run.

This is truly a race like no other...

42km - The Beast of Wadi Rum

We start before first light. Head torches are a must as you begin your way across the desert. As you find your rhythm, the colours around you will gently change as the sun rises behind the iconic desert mountains. By the time the sun has risen, you will be fully into your race and into the softer section of sand that will surely make this race one of the hardest of your life.

You will be pushed to your limit, you will feel like you can't go on. But when you dig deep, when you keep moving you will earn the right to proudly say you conquered The Beast Of Wadi Rum.

21km - Arch Half

A utterly unique opportunity to run through the magical beauty of the simply incredible Wadi Rum Protected Area. You will bus out into the middle of the desert, to our first ever starting arch made out of milennia old rock. You will begin as the 42km runners approach and you will all run together, with others, for others.

It’s not the classic hills that Impact Marathons are known for, but it is going to be hot and sandy as you make your way towards the horizon that rolls out in front of you for the entire distance.

10km - Starter for Ten

A 10km race that feels so much further! This is a serious test for any runner. You will begin as the heat is starting to build, you will begin as the 42km & 21km runners approach, you will begin in the deepest sandy section.

The routes have all collided by this point as you all make your ways to the 7 Pillars of Wisdom Mountain, to finish in it’s shadow!

If you are not a runner, we invite you to hike this course.

Trip postponed due to Covid and political situation in Ethiopia so still haven't travelled

The trip itself was great, brilliant guides and amazing things to see. The organising and communications from the old town outfitters was poor - we had three different versions of timings and itineraries! It would have also been better if we’d had more free time at the lake (as at least one itinerary suggested...) as all the steps and the post marathon body did need a bit more tlc than it got on this trip

An amazing experience. Everything was so well organised - the team really go out of their way to make sure that everyone has an unforgettable experience. A great mix of travel, meeting some amazing people, giving back and running in a stunning national park. The run is suitable for anyone - from people walking the 10k to people completing their 50th Marathon! If you are thinking of booking Nepal 2020 then do it - you won't regret it!

An absolutely incredible week, and a totally unique experience. I’d echo the other reviews – Impact week’s are not your typical tourist trip: we got hands on helping rebuild a mountain road, had our eye’s opened with some challenging but inspiring charity visits, stayed in a fantastic location with some of the most stunning views, and best of all shared it all with some amazing people. I’d highly recommend Impact trips for anyone travelling solo, they’re a great way to meet a real mix of people from all over the world who are brought so closely together by the experiences over the week.
