•Wadi Rum, the Valley of Light

•The Dead Sea

This tour also includes visits to Amman, Madaba, Mount Nebo, Jerash, and the Site of the Baptism of Jesus.

An optional tour to Jerusalem and Bethlehem, Israel may be available, depending on entry requirements to Israel at the time of your tour.

Trip Highlights

Guided tours include transportation and entry fees to all these sites:

Petra, One of the New 7 Wonders of the World

The Rose City of Petra is a historical and archaeological city, described by UNESCO as “one of the most precious cultural properties of man’s cultural heritage.” It flourished in the first century AD, when its famous Treasury was constructed.

We’ll enter the city through the Siq, a dark narrow gorge about .6 miles in length flanked on both sides by soaring cliffs. The Siq leads to the massive façade of the Treasury, carved out of the sheer, dusky pink rock-face and dwarfing everything around it. It was carved in the early first century as the tomb of an important Nabatean king.

From there, you’ll be able to explore sites such as the Obelisk Tomb, Calligraphy, Jabal Madbach (the sacrificial palace), Tombs, Theater, and Mountaintop Tombs.

After dinner, you might choose an optional excursion back to the Rose City to experience the Petra Night Show, a magical way to see part of the rock city by candlelight. This incomparable experience starts by walking the Siq to the Treasury, lit with over 1,500 candles. This optional tour happens from 8:30-10:30 pm.

Wadi Rum, the Valley of Light

Wadi Rum is one of the world’s most iconic and spectacular desert landscapes. (Much of the 1962 movie Lawrence of Arabia was shot here!) This 278 square miles of mountains, rock bridges, sand dunes, and notable sites is home to several hundred Bedouin inhabitants with their goat-hair tents and camels.

We’ll take an off-road jeep tour of the desert landscape with Bedouin guides. You’ll see some of the most breathtaking desert scenery in the world, and gain insight into Bedouin culture and hospitality. We’ll see petroglyphs etched into the cave walls depicting humans and antelopes dating back to the 8th century BC.

Our trucks will drop us off at the Bedouin camp where we’ll spend the night in deluxe tents with private bathrooms and AC/heaters. (Upgrade available to Martian Dome.) We’ll enjoy dinner prepared by our hosts, and music under the stars before bed.

Dead Sea

We’ll visit the Dead Sea where the warm, soothing, super salty water – 10 times saltier than sea water - is rich in chloride salts of magnesium, sodium, potassium and bromine.

Madaba, The City of Mosaics

Visit Madaba – best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. The city is home to the famous sixth century mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land, which has two million pieces of colored stone.

Mount Nebo, Pilgrimage Site for Early Christians

Early Christians from Jerusalem made pilgrimage to Mount Nebo, where a small church was built in the fourth century to commemorate Moses’ life. Today the basilica houses a stunning collection of Byzantine mosaics.
