About this trip

Visit one of the New 7 Wonders of the World; walk in the footsteps of Jesus; camp in the desert in a Bedouin tent, and float in the healing waters of the Dead Sea!

This jam-packed seven-day itinerary to Jordan will check FOUR major sites off your bucket list:

Petra, One of the New 7 Wonders of the World

•Jerusalem and Bethlehem, Israel

•Wadi Rum, the Valley of Light

•The Dead Sea

This tour also includes visits to Amman, Madaba, Mount Nebo, Jerash, and the Site of the Baptism of Jesus.

Trip Highlights

Guided tours include transportation and entry fees to all these sites:

Petra, One of the New 7 Wonders of the World

The Rose City of Petra is a historical and archaeological city, described by UNESCO as “one of the most precious cultural properties of man’s cultural heritage.” It flourished in the first century AD, when its famous Treasury was constructed.

We’ll enter the city through the Siq, a dark narrow gorge about .6 miles in length flanked on both sides by soaring cliffs. The Siq leads to the massive façade of the Treasury, carved out of the sheer, dusky pink rock-face and dwarfing everything around it. It was carved in the early first century as the tomb of an important Nabatean king.

From there, you’ll be able to explore sites such as the Obelisk Tomb, Calligraphy, Jabal Madbach (the sacrificial palace), Tombs, Theater, and Mountaintop Tombs.

After dinner, you might choose an optional excursion back to the Rose City to experience the Petra Night Show, a magical way to see part of the rock city by candlelight. This incomparable experience starts by walking the Siq to the Treasury, lit with over 1,500 candles. This optional tour happens from 8:30-10:30 pm.

Day Tour to Jerusalem, Israel

We will make the 90-minute drive to cross the border into Jerusalem, Israel.

As a holy city for Judaism, Christianity and Islam, Jerusalem has always been of great symbolic importance. In 1981, the Old City of Jerusalem was recognized as a UNESCO official site. Within a small walled area, it is home to 220 historic monuments, including the Wailing Wall, where thousands of Jewish pilgrims gather to pray; and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which contains the site where Jesus was crucified, and his empty tomb.

We’ll see age-old religious and historical sites like the sacred Via Dolorosa - The Way of the Cross, and the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed before his crucifixion. Stroll along part of the Cardo, Byzantine Jerusalem’s main thoroughfare, and finish your explorations of Jerusalem with a walk through the Jewish Quarter.

Then we’ll drive to Bethlehem, the holy city that was the birthplace of Jesus. We’ll explore Manger Square, including the Church of the Nativity, built on the site of Jesus’ birthplace.

Wadi Rum, the Valley of Light

Wadi Rum is one of the world’s most iconic and spectacular desert landscapes. (Much of the 1962 movie Lawrence of Arabia was shot here!) This 278 square miles of mountains, rock bridges, sand dunes, and notable sites is home to several hundred Bedouin inhabitants with their goat-hair tents and camels.

We’ll take an off-road jeep tour of the desert landscape with Bedouin guides. You’ll see some of the most breathtaking desert scenery in the world, and gain insight into Bedouin culture and hospitality. We’ll see petroglyphs etched into the cave walls depicting humans and antelopes dating back to the 8th century BC.

Our trucks will drop us off at the Bedouin camp where we’ll spend the night in deluxe tents with private bathrooms and AC/heaters. (Upgrade available to Martian Dome.) We’ll enjoy dinner prepared by our hosts, and music under the stars before bed.

Dead Sea

We’ll visit the Dead Sea where the warm, soothing, super salty water – 10 times saltier than sea water - is rich in chloride salts of magnesium, sodium, potassium and bromine.

Madaba, The City of Mosaics

Visit Madaba – best known for its spectacular Byzantine and Umayyad mosaics. The city is home to the famous sixth century mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land, which has two million pieces of colored stone.

Mount Nebo, Pilgrimage Site for Early Christians

Early Christians from Jerusalem made pilgrimage to Mount Nebo, where a small church was built in the fourth century to commemorate Moses’ life. Today the basilica houses a stunning collection of Byzantine mosaics.

Full Day Tour of Amman and Jerash

Tour the Jordanian capital of Amman, referred to in the Bible as the Ammonite Kingdom. Amman is a fascinating city of contrasts, a unique blend of old and new, located between the desert and the fertile Jordan Valley.

The ancient city of Jersash boasts an unbroken chain of human occupation dating back more than 6500 years. The city’s golden age came during Roman rule, and is generally acknowledged to be one of the best preserved Roman provincial towns in the world.

Bethany Beyond the Jordan: Site of the Baptism of Jesus

This archeological site on the Jordanian side of the river is believed to be the actual site of the baptism of Jesus.

If you are thinking of going to Egypt, I highly recommend Bucket List Travel. My husband and I have just completed a private tour. We were their first booking since the pandemic started, and we truly loved the experience. Annie arranged a great itinerary tailored to our preferences,, and Yasser, our guide couldn’t have been better. He is a scholar in Egyptology who is passionate about his country, its history, culture, architecture, food and all things Egypt. He is also fun to be with and bends over backwards to give his guests the best experience possible. We normally travel independently, but are so glad we decided to see Egypt this way. We would not have gotten half as much out of the trip without the background and understanding provided by Yasser. I would recommend using Bucket List Travel without hesitation.

A very special thank you to our guide to beautiful Egypt and its’ amazing history, Yasser Omar. In 10 days, he quickly became part of the family and a friend forever. Thank you to Annie Emanuelli who helped arrange this magical trip for us and is highly recommended. The people of Egypt are such a wonderful and welcoming culture. It was quite the compliment to be welcomed over and over to Egypt, “welcome to Egypt miss”, with a smiling request for a picture with them from time to time. The history of this country truly ties all that you know about the world together. From measurement and numbering systems, to the medical devices we use today, you find these influences carved on the walls in ancient Egypt dating back 4000+ years ago. Having traveled for years, this bucket list trip was truly set apart by the amazing service of this team. Highly, highly, highly recommended. If you’ve been looking for a travel company or unsure of how to best see Egypt, this is the company you want to go with. Service and experience can not be matched.

I just returned from a once in a lifetime trip to Cairo organized by Bucket List Travel. Annie took care of every detail of planning, and it really showed when I got off the plane and was taken care of from start to finish with the greatest care. Our guide Yasser was kind, professional, knowledgeable, and funny! He went above and beyond to ensure every need was met and we got the most out of each day in Egypt. I always felt safe and loved experiencing local life and culture. I plan to grab my friends and book again with Bucket List Travel!
