About this trip

Each student will leave this 200 hour intensive with practical knowledge of 45 traditional poses, embodied practice designing sequences, and the confidence to inspire students to love their bodies through the practice of yoga. Our time during the intensive training will be grounded in meditation and applying the philosophy and practice of yoga to our daily lives. Each student will have the opportunity to practice teaching small groups. This transformative 15-day intensive will open doors of perception and catalyze shifts in the way we relate to ourselves, each other and our yoga practice.

What we will cover

This course will include daily yoga and meditation practice, asana and pranayama labs, and a variety of workshops designed to help you gain the knowledge and confidence to lead students in asana classes and workshops of your own.

-Anatomy of Yoga

-Detailed description and practice of 45 traditional Yoga poses

-Asana Labs

-Introduction to Pranayama

-Yoga Nidra and Deep Relaxation

-Restorative Yoga

-The Eight Limbs of Yoga

-Yamas and Niyamas

-How to Lead Meditation

-Sequencing an Asana Class Your Students Will Love

-The Magic of Savasana

Preparing

The most important thing you can do to prepare for this intensive is cultivate your personal yoga practice. Spend time on your mat. Try on-line pre-recorded classes, join a live on-line course (I can send my schedule of Zoom classes), or just spread our your mat and explore what feels good in your body. Set aside 15 minutes every day for the practice of yoga. We will also send links to pre-recorded video content that we want you to watch before you join us in the end of July. After you watch each video we will ask you to devote 10 minutes to a writing exercise that will deepen your knowledge of what was covered.

What's so special about this training?

Joshua Tree’s immense vistas of stark desert and rugged rock formations inspire stillness and calm. Leonie’s commitment to yoga practice and empowerment will inspire students to live their best lives

In the heart of our journey, Kootenay Yoga School was created from a profound belief in holistic well-being. Recognizing the challenges of modern life, where daily routines can become repetitive cycles of wakefulness, nourishment, work, and rest, we felt the need for a sanctuary that transcends the ordinary. Our vision materialized as Kootenay Yoga School, an embodiment of holistic living.

This was one of the most amazing and important experiences of my life. I will never forget the kindness, generosity, dedication & just overall good vibes of everyone involved. The food was unreal! Everyday was a treat when we walked in for meal times and the knowledge I gained I will keep with me forever and continue to learn from. I can’t say thank you enough.

Absolutely amazing experience! Location 15/10, food 15/10, and our yoga instructor was perhaps a 20/10 ✨🫶🏼🫶🏼 Just exceeded my expectations overall. Loved having my private space and all of the amenities (hot tub, cold pool, firepit, heaters, fireplace, record player, and multiple areas to lounge) and the extra activities they planned to make a memorable experience! Trip to Joshua Tree National Park was definitely a favourite. Whenever I reached out Kootenany School response time was excellent and I can’t wait to join them again for further training and education!!

This was seriously the greatest experience of my life. The staff was incredibly kind, accommodating and understanding. Addy is an incredible host, friend and chef. She makes sure everyone has what they need at all times, while making sure the experience is fun. I met so many incredible people I will be able to call my friends for life! I was so sad to leave so if you are reading this it’s your sign to sign up.

Ahhhhhhhh thank you so much for this Sage! We are so so so glad that you came on this journey - and accomplished so much in these two weeks. We will forever think back on the memories - the park, evening campfires.....the crafts and laughs and all of the rest. We so appreciate your feedback, and in general - just the fact that you came and did the work. It was a pleasure and we really hope to remain in contact!

The people, food and yoga were amazing.!!! EJ, Sasha and Addy= kind, beautiful souls!!! Cook(unsure of name)- excellent!!! I paid for a private glamper. The price I signed up for was a sale price. When I went to pay, it was full price. Full price was over 500.00 more. I asked about honoring the advertised price and was told no, the site just didn’t change to reflect the sale was over (no mention sale was over in add) 😞The glamper sink faucet didn’t work, was told pipe froze and burst, “ sorry, there’s no water”. Couldn’t wash my hands or brush my teeth w/o having to walk across the grounds to get water. The door did not have a lock, did not shut properly and cold air was blowing in all night. Took 3 separate maintenance visits to get it fixed and 1 time the door was glued shut so I had trouble getting in and out. Aside from that, maintenance person was very friendly. Cactus thorns all over the inside of the glamper; on the floor, in the bed. It would have been nice to have on site clothes washer/drier and maybe a shuttle to town a few times a week so participants dont need to rely on other participants to get to town if needed. Would I recommend Kootenay? Absolutely!!!! Would I recommend this site/accommodation's? I probably would recommend taking it at a different site. Would have really appreciated the advertised sale price being honored especially with all the accommodation quirks 😊

I have completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training with Kootenay Yoga School at their beautiful location in Isla Mujeres Mexico (a small Island in the Caribbean Sea). Where to start? Sign up and be totally comfortable that u’ll have the best experience. The location is in a jungle vibe, modest, clean & organized. The food is vegetarian, organic, super healthy prepared by a talented young lady - Addy the owner’s daughter, who works hard to make sure every dietary requirement is met. Lisa, the owner, is a professional woman who is very meticulous and follows up with every detail, making the experience worthy. The whole team, from Kandice, Silvia, to the kitchen staff are very helpful and kind. Stephania (Steff) our teacher made every lesson interesting and enjoyable, the fire and energy in her, the knowledge she shared in Anatomy, was outstanding as if a doctor is explaining. The course is intensive, however, well divided throughout the days. Steff is also flexible and no matter how tired one is, we would put the effort to be punctual in her classes and enjoy the information shared. I was lucky to be with amazing people from different countries and cultures, we clicked and had so much fun together. Yes, it’s hot and humid and u need mosquito repellent. It’s not that bad at all. The beach is 5’ walk from the school and it’s breathtaking. So is Punta Sur most easternmost point of Mexico and u get to see numerous iguanas in that region too. I felt so safe in the school and the whole island. 💜🧘🏻‍♀️
