Participating California Bar Associations welcome you and your guest(s) to join our journey through Scotland's historically rich and charming landscape. For such a small country, Scotland has a significant cultural footprint beyond its legendary kilts and bagpipes. Sitting on the Northernmost point of the United Kingdom, Scotland has a robust and independent history of Roman soldiers, Vikings, noble clansmen, and powerful monarchs. Today, the country must reconcile its unique civil law history with the more centralized UK common law system, the repercussions of Brexit, and a resurging interest in Independence.
Our private delegation will explore different aspects of Scottish culture. Join out Core Program for 4-nights with visits that will include Castle tours, traditional music, dance, whisky and haggis as well as a day trip to Scotland's second largest city - Glasgow.
We will also gain a working knowledge of the Scottish legal and political system through guided visits to high Courts and the Scottish Parliament.
The 5-night program includes a day trip tp the picturesque St. Andrews, the birthplace of golf.
The 6-night program includes a day trip to the Scottish Borders with a Scottish Tartan mill tour at Locharron and lunch at the Traquair House where we meet the the first female Laird, Lady of Traquair.
The amusing capital of Edinburgh will be our home base for this unique opportunity to enjoy the best of Scotland while earning CLE credits! Friends and family are welcome. See itinerary below.
Please Note: This program will require vigorous walking on cobblestone streets and uneven tiles and stairs where an elevator is not always available. Participants should be able to walk unassisted.
