If you are a parent who wants to Nurture Your Family and is ready to learn stress-reducing and balancing practices to help you and your family find a state of heart-centered calm and ease, then join Lisa Love Hall, yoga and mindfulness teacher + artist, and Elise Marie Collins, yoga teacher, health coach + author, on this transformational family yoga retreat at the YMCA Point Bonita in the majestic Marin Headlands!

Among the beautiful California coast...

you will learn powerful tools and practices to nurture and strengthen your family relationships, reduce stress, and sleep better. Return home with a full heart from all the wisdom you gained and the priceless quality time you spent together as a family.

Imagine yourself on a hiking trail...

in the beautiful Marin Headlands overlooking the majestic blue Pacific Ocean. You feel a deep connection to Mother Nature, from your feet touching the ground, up through your heart center, and all the way up to the crown of your head. Your heart bursts open with expanded joy as you resonate with the peace and calm of the present moment and feel truly at one with Mother Nature.

Why Point Bonita in the Marin Headlands?

"The Marin Headlands is a crown jewel of the Golden Gate National Parks, abounding with places of natural wonder and beauty and remarkable historic sites. Rodeo Beach is windswept, exhilarating, and covered with unique red and green pebbles.

The road to Point Bonita Lighthouse offers breathtaking views of San Francisco and the Pacific Ocean. The lighthouse is still active and maintained by the U.S. Coast Guard. This spot, at the “world’s end,” is ruggedly beautiful. Nearby, old army buildings are used for environmental education programs. Sights along the trail to the lighthouse include the ruins of an historic Coast Guard rescue station, wildflowers, and pillow basalt rock formations.

The lighthouse was built in 1855 and originally placed on a hill above the current location. Point Bonita was the third lighthouse to be built on the West Coast after San Francisco’s infamous fog sent many ships crashing against the headlands’ rocky shoreline. It was moved to its current location in 1877." –Golden Gate Parks National Conservancy

Experience the Bay Area’s historic and breathtaking California coastline! Not only do you get to explore and hike around this majestic location like everyone else, you also get the honor and privilege of staying overnight!

Let the beauty and wonder of this magical place nurture your heart and soul...

Wake up each morning and...

practice mindful meditation outside in the serene hilltops with an ocean view. Smell the ocean air and feel the sea breeze on your skin and hear the wind in your ears. See the coastline below you and the gorgeous expanse of eucalyptus trees off in the distance. Sea birds are squawking overhead and welcoming you to their private beachside sanctuary.

Why is being out in nature so nurturing?

Being in nature is deeply nurturing to your overall health and well-being. As our very own Retreat Leader, Elise Marie Collins, stated in her new book, Super Ager, “spending time at the beach, in the mountains, or by a lake slows the mind and feeds the heart’s furnace. Nature seems to envelop and observe with compassion our individual suffering, caress it, and release it to the wind, sweeping it away so we can be still and be held by the penultimate and ultimate Mother – Earth.”

Additionally, as Wallace J. Nichols states in his book, Blue Mind, “recent studies showed that feeling connected to nature led to greater feelings of awe, vitality, purpose, and more positive emotions overall.” And another recent study indicates “that there is real, measurable cognitive advantage to be realized if we spend time truly immersed in a natural setting.”

Practice family yoga each day...

in a clean and spacious room with hardwood floors. Stretch and twist your body as you move through a series of fun and balancing yoga poses together as a family. Rest and relax as you discover a state of quiet calm in the ultimate nurturing yoga pose, Savasana.

Enjoy delicious meals for any diet...

The YMCA staff work hard each day to prepare nutritious meals for your whole family. They are also happy to accommodate most of your dietary needs! Please include this information with your registration. Special dietary needs must be received by April 18, 2019 in order to ensure adequate time for inclusion.

After a long day...

of mindful activities and outdoor exploring, sleep in cozy historic dorm rooms with the rest of your family. Bunk-bed sleeping arrangements are available for each family. Depending on the size of your family, smaller families may need to share a room with another family. This is a great opportunity to invite your friends and share a room with each other! Bring your own bedding, or purchase Linen Service at $30/person. Please select this Option with your registration.
