About your trip

How about treating yourself to an overnight Theater Trip to the Queen City of Charlotte for the touring Broadway production of & Juliet? Created by the Emmy®-winning writer from “Schitt’s Creek,” this hilarious new musical flips the script on the greatest love story ever told. & JULIET asks: what would happen next if Juliet didn’t end it all over Romeo? Get whisked away on a fabulous journey as she ditches her famous ending for a fresh beginning and a second chance at life and love—her way.

Juliet’s new story bursts with life through a playlist of pop anthems as iconic as her name, including "Since U Been Gone‚" "Roar," "Baby One More Time," "Larger Than Life‚" "That’s The Way It Is,“ and "Can't Stop the Feeling!"—all from the genius songwriter/producer behind more #1 hits than any other artist this century. Break free of the balcony scene and get into this romantic comedy that proves there’s life after Romeo. The only thing tragic would be missing it!!!

We have excellent seats in the Orchestra Front Right for the show in Charlotte's Belk Theater at Blumenthal Performing Arts Center just two city blocks from our hotel, the Hilton Charlotte Uptown. We arrive at the hotel and check-in at 4pm so you have time to "gussy up" for the show if you like and enjoy an early dinner prior to show time at 7:30pm. Dining options include Coastal Kitchen and Bar at the Hotel as well as numerous other options within walking distance of our hotel and the theater.

The following day, you can enjoy breakfast at the Hotel or you might enjoy the 2 minute walk to Amelie's French Bakery. This is a whimsical Parisian style bakery just a quick macaron's throw from the hotel. After fortifying yourself for the morning, we are treated to a guided tour at North Carolina's first Art Museum, The Mint of the traveling exhibit Caravaggio Revolution. This is the first exhibition in North Carolina in a century to shine a light on how Caravaggio's radical realism transformed not only painting, but the very language of modern film, photography and popular culture. The collection features not only work by the artist himself but is surrounded by 30 paintings by leading Baroque masters.

Finally, before departing Charlotte, we enjoy lunch and a time to practice the "art of shopping" at Southpark. This is the most exclusive shopping destination in the Carolinas, home to over 175 specialty retailers. Learn all about Southpark at this link, https://www.simon.com/mall/southpark

About your organizer

P
Patty
I love to travel so in my partially retired life I decided to adapt my passion for travel along with 25 years of experience in Travel & Tourism to create Trips by Patty. I received a BA in American History from UNC-Chapel Hill. Not knowing what I was going to do with that degree, I started working as a desk clerk at a hotel in Raleigh. I enjoyed the hotel business and the career path began. Hotel operations and sales, Convention Center operations and marketing, destination marketing with a Convention Visitors Bureau and even a stint as a tour guide. What happened to the history degree? Well, many times when I am escorting my trips I share the history of the destinations we visit. It's a great feeling to take your career skills and adapt them to your own small business. I love what I do and hope you'll join me on a trip one day!
