So much of our culture is attuned to what we're lacking - what we don't have, what we need more of, and how we need to be better or do better. The result is - BURNOUT. We all feel it - we're stressed, overwhelmed, working and cleaning constantly but somehow feel like we're just not enough.
We designed this retreat to offer a reprieve from this thinking and everyday stress, but more importantly, to remind you that you ARE enough and everything you need and will ever need is already within you.
Join yoga teachers Kris Relucio and Holly Urban, and health coach and home-taught chef Anna Jackson, for a luxurious 3-day, 3-night yoga retreat in one of Michigan's beautiful beach towns, about 2.5 hours outside of Chicago, IL. At this retreat, you'll celebrate and embrace the changing seasons and tap into your inner abundance through yoga, locally-sourced nourishing food, peaceful solitude, and connection with community. You'll have the option to take five yoga classes with varying intensity and focus and one in-depth yoga workshop. Valerie Penrose will be offering massage services ala carte. The retreat house is enveloped in the woods, has a hot tub and heated pool, and the beach is 1.5 miles away. Find your inner abundance here.

Aside from being a convenient combination of both of our names (Kris + Holly = Kali), Kali is also our favorite Hindu deity, the goddess of enlightenment and liberation. She's a fierce, feminine presence who helps destroy the constructs of the ego and the mind's limits to live a more awakened life. We're drawn to her because she is an incredible representation of the divine feminine in all of her duality; she's life and death, destructive yet nurturing, darkness and light.
Kali Retreats aims to channel Kali by celebrating the dynamic nature in all of us. Expect a balance of relaxation, growth, and space for you to be your authentic self. We'll cultivate inspiration through nature, movement, and inquiry. We’ll support and empower each other through this process while learning from one another. We’ll fill ourselves with love and acceptance so we can go out into the world with clarity and power. Most importantly, we’ll have some fun and let loose!

Kali Retreats was created by Kris Relucio + Holly Urban, two yoga teachers originally from Illinois. They met in 2012 in Chicago during their 200-hour yoga teacher training, and the connection was instant! Throughout the years, they've continued to inspire each other, take yoga trainings, and grow together, even though they now live far away from each other. Anna is a certified health coach and home-taught chef. She works with women and their hormonal imbalances. She hosts yoga retreats that focus on enriching women's relationships with their bodies and the food they choose to consume.
A B O U T V A L E R I E P E N R O S E
Valerie grew up in a world centered around movement—with a passion and drive for
tumbling, dance, and trampoline class—which laid the foundation for a deep appreciation for
all the human body and mind are capable of. Her interest in the mind-body connection
expanded to include Yogic and Ayurvedic philosophy and practice in 2001 and introduced a
holistic perspective to movement, mindfulness, breath, and body.
Valerie’s interest in movement and energetic-based modalities, holistic approaches to health,
and the mind-body connection led her to Pacific College of Health and Science in 2016
where she earned an Associate of Applied Science degree in Massage Therapy and East
Asian Bodywork—with a focus on Thai massage, Shiatsu, Acupressure, Reflexology, Tui
Na, Cupping, Gua Sha, and Reiki as healing modalities. She further completed an advanced
pre/postnatal massage certification and received a 200-hour yoga teacher certification from
Nature Yoga Sanctuary in 2018, as well as an advanced 65-hour psychologically-sensitive
yoga teacher certification from Room to Breathe in 2020.
With a blended knowledge of anatomical well-being, movement, and holistic studies, Valerie
is skilled in holding space for others to experience the mind-body connection, as well as
providing tools to further improve health and well-being beyond a session. She is honored to
support the needs of individuals and offer a healing space that is welcoming, supportive,
and safe for all.
ALL are welcome on this retreat! No level of experience is needed - just a hunger for learning and inquiry!

C A N C E L L A T I O N :
Cancel for a full refund by March 15th, 2023. The deposit is non-refundable after March 15th, 2023. No refunds will be given after April 7th, 2023.

All room options can fit 2 people. There are 2 private room (solo) options (queen bed with shared bath). These rooms can also be shared.
The rest of the beds are shared by 2 people in a private or semi-private setting, all with shared baths. There is one King and one Queen room with private baths.

If you have any dietary restrictions or aversions, let us know, and Anna can accommodate.

All are welcome to participate in any/all activities. Nothing is mandatory - make this trip your own! There is a fire pit, hot tub, heated pool, hiking, the nearby beach, and star gazing!
