About this trip

Experience the Amazon Rainforest and the Achuar culture with Kapawi Eco-lodge's 4-night trip itinerary. This Program runs Monday through Friday. The highlight of our Kapawi Ecolodge travel experience is not only the remoteness of our nature sanctuary in the Amazon Rainforest, but the unique Achuar cultural immersion you will experience as our guest. A 4-night program allows guest enough time (in comparison with the 4-day program) to include more natural and cultural activities. Guests can always customize their experience, with activities ranging from wildlife, birdwatching, relaxed or hard-core adventures, hiking and paddling, fishing, and cultural immersion. Our 4-night program can also allow guests to spend one night in one of the neighboring Achuar communities, in an Achuar cultural immersion experience.

Inaugurated in 1996, Kapawi Ecolodge is an award-winning Achuar indigenous ecotourism enterprise, located in Ecuador's last large tract of Amazon Rainforest in southeastern Ecuador. Kapawi Ecolodge offers a unique and authentic natural and cultural travel experience deep in the Amazon Rainforest, in the lower basin of the Pastaza, Capahuari, and Kusutkau rivers. Kapawi is owned and operated by the local communities, and offers an immersion in nature and culture, and an experience with Achuar communities, forest, and Amazon rivers.

We had the most amazing time. Made to feel very welcome by everyone. Chumpy, our guide, was fantastic. We learnt so much & seen so many wonderful things, thanks to our guide. The accommodation is lovely, very comfortable. The food is amazing. Nothing is too much trouble for anyone & we were looked after like royalty. This is 5* all the way. Will hopefully return someday. Would recommend to anyone, who wants an authentic amazon jungle experience.

Kapawi, wow, where do I start. I think most adventure, travel and new culture seekers can appreciate that no matter what you read, watch or hear nothing will ever quite compare with the real thing. The adventure truly started getting from our current home base in Miami, Fl to Kapawi, that itself was just as much part of the fantastic experience as a whole. From the unfavorable weather heading in (remember where you are) alternating our small aircraft departure time in, to issues with electricity due to a storm (again your in the middle of the amazon), it was a trip that kept you on your toes for more than just the expected reasons (being in the Amazon), but being adaptable, constantly, continued to keep the experience a humbling one. The issues that were out of everyoens control did not dampen the experience at all, infact it honestly made it more meaningful. The entire team on site, all staff, local community members, interpreter who joined us were so hospitable, caring and sharing knowledge constantly, nothing was ever a problem. I've paid far more to stay at places I won't mention that I've received far less service. The food was incredible, the tours and daily excursions all planned, mapped out kept us really busy and engaged for the entire experience. We did the 5nights, and would have enjoyed extending it, 3 nights would not quite be enough IMO. The sunsets were incredible and the constant daily nature sounds are unforgettable, I simply can't rate this experience highly enough, no words, a uniquely favorite trip that we will cherish for years to come. Edwin a special mention to you, Muchas gracias amigo mío.

Our family of 5 (3 kids ages 9, 12, 14) stayed for about 6 days over the New Year. Our stay was incredible! Because the resort is owned by an indigenous Amazonian tribe (with experienced naturalists/biologists on the tours), a stay at this resort is incredibly genuine in its feel. I was previously at a lodge on the Brazilian side but this felt so much nicer and truer. The cabins are beautiful, the food was wonderful and the whole experience felt like a once in a lifetime almost other worldly experience. We had so much fun, we learned/ experienced/ saw so much. I would highly highly recommend going to Kapawi. Also, the manager helped us with transportation on the remainder of our trip throughout Ecuador. Thank you!!

The accommodations, food, and guide were excellent. We learned so much about the rainforest environment and the local indigenous culture. We did numerous jungle walks where our guide Edwin taught us about the plants, many of which are medicinal and/or edible and he demonstrated how the vines and bark of some are used by the local Achuar people. We saw numerous birds, monkeys, and pink dolphins. I would recommend this trip to anyone!
