Giraffes & The Journey North to Samburu

After breakfast, we'll check out and begin the day at the Giraffe Centre, where we’ll hand-feed the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe and learn about the conservation success story that brought them back from the brink.

Afterwards we leave Nairobi and travel north through Kenya’s lush central highlands. Halfway we'll stop for lunch before continuing our scenic drive to drier, more dramatic landscapes of Samburu.

After checking into our Game Lodge, we'll regroup for dinner and get some rest for tomorrow.

Meals included: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Day 3

Day 3 image

Safari & Umoja Women’s Village

Today starts with an early breakfast followed by a morning game drive in the Samburu National Reserve, home to rare northern species like the Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe.

Afterwards, we will visit the Umoja Women’s Village, a women-only community founded in 1990 as a place of refuge, strength, and independence. Here, we’ll spend meaningful time with the women sharing songs, stories, beadwork, and everyday moments that offer a genuine window into Samburu life and resilience.

For lunch, we return to the lodge and rest before heading out again for an evening game drive. Dinner will be at the lodge.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 4

Day 4 image

Rhino Sanctuary

After breakfast, we'll head south to Ol Pejeta Conservancy, one of Kenya’s most important conservation areas and the largest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa.

After lunch, we'll have an afternoon game drive across the conservancy’s vast

plains.

Dinner is served back at camp.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Chimpanzees and Game Drives

Today is devoted entirely to the wilderness! After breakfast, we set out for a game drive. We'll visit Baraka the blind rhino and get a chance to hand feed him followed by a visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary.

The rest of the day unfolds as an extended game drive across the conservancy

with a picnic lunch in the bush. In the late afternoon we'll return to camp.

Day 6

Off to the Indian Ocean

Today we transition from the savannah to the Indian Ocean. After breakfast and hotel check-out, we depart for the Nairobi airport with a lunch stop before our flight to the coast. Upon arrival at Diani Beach, we'll head to our hotel with time to relax and enjoy the ocean before dinner at 7:30pm.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

Day 7

Day 7 image

Dhow Sailing, Dolphins & Island Life

After breakfast, we'll have a full-day coastal excursion to a Marine National

Park and Wasini Island. Sail in a traditional dhow, a wooden sailing vessel that have been used along the Swahili Coast for centuries. Along the way, keep an eye out for pods of dolphins that often accompany boats in these waters.

Upon reaching the coral reefs of the marine park, you can snorkel in the clear waters of the Indian Ocean, swim, or simply relax on the boat or nearby sandbanks during low tide. Assistance is available for non-swimmers.

Then we'll continue to Wasini Island where a fresh Swahili seafood lunch awaits us at one of the island’s renowned seaside restaurants. In the afternoon, a

guided walk through the island village offers a glimpse into daily life here. Afterwards we can visit the community conservation project known as the Coral Garden and its raised boardwalk through the mangrove forest. Return to the hotel for a relaxed evening before dinner.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 8

Day 8 image

Swahili Cooking & Dinner in a Coral Cave

After an early breakfast, we head to a hands-on Swahili cooking experience. We'll learn to prepare traditional coastal dishes such as coconut rice, fresh

seafood curries, chapati, and other regional favorites while discovering the cultural influences that shape Swahili cuisine.

The afternoon is free to relax back at the hotel or head to the beach. In the evening, we'll gather for a memorable farewell dinner at a Cave Restaurant, one of Kenya’s most unique dining venues. Set inside a natural coral cave believed to be over 100,000 years old, the restaurant offers an atmospheric setting where open skylights reveal the night sky above.

Meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner

It's not goodbye, but hasta luego to all the amigas. We hope to see you on a future viaje!
