In the morning, our guides and climbing crew will come to the hotel. You will have a transfer to the Northern entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park – Rongai Gate (1996 m). After the guides arrange the park permits and register the crew with the emergency service, the group will start trekking to Rongai Cave camp (2830 m).

First day trekking route lies through the coniferous forest. The most important issue is choosing and maintaining a proper trekking pace. By the time of your arrival, the team will arrange the camp and prepare a lunch. 

It will be your first day on such elevation. We highly recommend you following these simple instructions:

• Reduce caffeine consumption;
• Drink 4 liters (or more) of water (you should better drink in small portions, but frequently);
• Once you find the symptoms of high altitude sickness, intake of Diamox is advisable. Moreover, you can take the pill as a preventive measure at the beginning of the trekking. Please, consult your physician on the possible individual allergic reactions.

Acclimatization is more difficult at night because of respiratory activity decrease multiplied by high altitude. The chances of nausea and headache become high. Once you discover any symptoms of high altitude sickness, ask the guides for help. 

Elevations: Rongai Gate (1996 m) – Rongai Cave Camp (2830 m)

Trekking distance: 7 km

Duration of trekking: 4-5 hours 

Early in the morning, you leave Rongai Cave camp and start trekking to the second high altitude camp Kikilewa (3720 m). A view on spectacular Mount Kibo is open from there.
This trekking is more physically demanding than the previous one. One you are in the camp, full rest is recommended. 

Elevations: Rongai Cave camp (2830 m) – Kikilewa Camp (3600 m)

Trekking distance: 9 km 

Duration of trekking: 6-7 hours

The group wakes up early in the morning and start trekking to Mawenzi Tarn camp, located at the foot of the Mawenzi volcano, the second highest point of Kilimanjaro system. After your arrival at the camp, a warm lunch will be offered. After a couple of hours, you will have an additional acclimatization hike up to 200 m towards Mawenzi volcano and go back to the camp.
 

Important note:
Acclimatization hike is an easy trekking up to some minor altitudes. Please, kindly note, that these acclimatization hikes are very important in order to reach Uhuru Peak successfully and will help you to prevent AMS (acute mountain sickness).

Ascent from Kikilewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp:

Elevations: Kikilewa Camp (3600 m) – Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4315 m)

Trekking distance: 6 km

Duration of trekking: 4-5 hours

Acclimatization hike:

Elevations: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4315 m) – Set point (4515 m)

Trekking distance: 2 km

Duration of trekking: 1-2 hours

This day you will make a hike to Kibo Summit Camp (4650 m). The surrounding landscape will change for a stony semi-desert. Trekking is not difficult, the most important aspect is choosing a proper trekking pace to spare your strength for summiting. Once you reach the camp, we advise you having a good rest and drinking much water. This night you will be conquering Uhuru Peak (5895 m)!

Elevations: Camp Mawenzi Tarn (4315m) – Kibo Camp (4673 m)

Trekking distance: 9 km 

Duration of trekking: 5-6 hours 

You leave Kibo Camp (4673 m) at night and start climbing the top of Kilimanjaro – Uhuru Peak (5895 m). Summiting will be modestly challenging, but the altitude is a huge concern. The chief guide will assign a personal guide for each couple of the climbers. He will be continually monitoring your stamina and fortitude (if summiting is successful, you will have an opportunity to visit a glacier). Then, you will go down to Kibo Camp. After 2 hours rest, there the group will keep on descending to the camp Horombo (3720 m).

Important note:
Do not forget that the 90% of all accidents (broken hands, legs, fractures and strains) happened on the way down. Legs and feet are the most vulnerable areas (especially toenails).

Elevations: Kibo Camp (4650 m) – Uhuru Peak (5895 m) – Horombo Camp (3720 m)

Trekking distance: 22 km

Duration of trekking: 11-13 hours

Warm breakfast and the team goes down to the exit from Kilimanjaro National Park - Marangu Gate (1980 m). The team will salute you and congratulate with your accomplishment. You may share your impressions and memories and the guestbook. Then, (in our office) we will award you with the climbing certificates. Then, we will organize a transfer to the hotel.

Trekking distance: 21 km 

Duration of trekking: 5-7 hours

Rest at the hotel. Transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Hotel check-out is at 11:00. In the event of necessity (e.g. your flight is scheduled for evening time) you can prolong your stay for extra payment (charged by the hotel).
