After a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, we exited the jungle and continued on an ascent, crossing the valley along a steep rocky ridge. The road now turns west in a river gorge until we reach the Shira campsite. The temperature is starting to drop. 

10.75KM / 6MI | 5-6H | SEMI-DESERT Elevation: 3839m / 12595ft to 3986m / 13077ft Height achieved: 147m 

Even though you end the day at the same height as you started it, the day is important for acclimatization. From the Shira Plateau we continue east on a ridge, passing a fork to Mount Kibo before continuing, southeast to the lava tower, known as "Shark's Tooth" (elev. 4650m / 15,250ft). Right after the tower, we come to the second fork, which leads to Arrow Glacier. We then continued down to spend the night at Camp Barranco. 

8.5KM / 5MI | 6-8H | ALPINE DESERT Elevation: 3986m / 13077ft to 4034m / 13235ft to 4662m / 15295ft Height achieved: 676m 

After breakfast, we continued up a steep ridge up the Barranco Wall venturing to the Karanga Valley and the junction with the Mweka Trail. It's one of the most dramatic days to witness the strength, agility and power of your crew overcome that wall by what seems so effortless. We continued on to Camp Barafu, and once you've done that you've now completed the South Circuit, which offers breathtaking mountaintop views from a variety of angles. Have an early dinner and rest while we prepare for the summit night. Overnight at Camp Barafu. 

13KM / 8MI DOWN | 5-6H | GLACIERS, SNOW SUMMIT Elevation: 4662m / 15295ft to 5895m / 19341ft Height achieved: 1233m Drop down 3106m / 10,190ft Altitude lost: 2789m 

The excitement increases as the morning starts early from midnight to 2am. This is the most mentally and physically challenging part of the trip. We continued on our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers, trying to stay warm and focused on the incredible sense of accomplishment that awaited us. Head back to the NW and climb across the big screen to Stella Point on the crater rim. You will enjoy the best sunrise view during your short stay here. Faster hikers can see the sun rise from the top. From there, for the remaining 1 hour of your climb to Mount Uhuru, you'll likely encounter snow the entire route. Congratulations, step by step, you have reached Mount Uhuru, the highest point of Mount Kilimanjaro and the entire continent of Africa! After pictures, celebrations and maybe a few tears of joy, we take a few moments to enjoy this incredible achievement. We started downhill to Camp Mweka, stopping at Barafu for lunch and a very short rest. We highly recommend the hikers and pole trekking for the uncooperative volcanic ash and gravel terrain. A worthy rest is waiting for you to enjoy your last evening in the mountains. Overnight at Mweka camp.

After breakfast and a heartfelt appreciation and team bonding with your crew, it's time to say goodbye. We continue down to the gates of Mweka Park to receive your conference certificate. Since the weather is significantly warmer, the terrain is wet, muddy and steep, we strongly recommend going for hikers and climbers. From the gate, a car will be waiting for you in Mweka village to take you back to your hotel in Moshi (about 30 minutes). Enjoy the long awaited hot shower, dinner and celebration!! Overnight at 4-star hotel B&B in Kilimanjaro Wonders. before being transferred to your return trip, safari or a relaxing trip to Zanzibar.
