Imagine giving yourself a long weekend by the ocean—one designed entirely to nurture your writing, your creativity, and your well-being.
At the inaugural KindWrite Studio Writing Retreat at Rehoboth Beach, you’ll settle into a relaxing, inspiring space where your writing is front and center. Over four days, you’ll explore new craft approaches, try fresh generative exercises, and reconnect with the creative energy that too often gets pushed aside.
At the retreat, you'll have plenty of time to dive into your own projects, whether you’re starting something new or returning to a piece that’s been pushed to the back burner. Our three-story retreat home offers sun-drenched rooms, quiet corners for deep focus, and airy, well-appointed communal spaces to gather with fellow writers when you’re ready for company.
Throughout the weekend, you’ll also enjoy three nourishing, home-cooked meals per day so you can stay immersed in your work. You’ll also receive a one-on-one session with Diana to discuss your pages, your process, or wherever you feel stuck, plus a complimentary pitch letter from Val for a piece of your choosing.
In the evenings, we'll gather for relaxed shared dinners, where conversations wander from craft to creativity to the joys and challenges of being a writer. It’s a chance to feel supported and part of a kind, encouraging community.
Give your writing the attention it deserves. Join the KindWrite Studio team at our Rehoboth Beach Writing Retreat.
Our retreat house is ideal for a group stay, especially a community of writers! Located on the ocean side of Route 1, the property blends privacy with proximity. Just a short walk to quaint downtown Rehoboth Beach and a mile to the ocean, enjoy the benefits of a quiet community with a relaxing vibe. In between writing sessions, take advantage of the nearby beach and Junction & Breakwater hiker/biker trail.
Our 5-bedroom, 5-bathroom KWS Retreat House overlooks a pond and large lawn with graceful trees. The sun-drenched spacious first floor is perfect for gathering for craft discussions and generative writing sessions. Relax in a cozy sitting room on the second floor, ideal for reading or putting your feet up with your laptop on your lap!
Three of the bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms. Two other bedrooms share a large hallway bathroom and are offered at a discount. All rooms have a chair and writing table/desk.

We’re Diana Friedman and Valerie Berton—writers, editors, and coaches who have spent our lives working with words. We pride ourselves on a kind, yet rigorous approach.
Diana brings compassion, insight, empathy and focus to coaching and developmental editing, helping you find your voice, strengthen your stories, and build confidence.
Val brings a sharp editorial eye and decades of experience to copyediting and proofreading, both technical documents and creative writing pieces to help you crafting and refine your work.
We launched KindWrite Studios because we’re driven to create a different approach. We strive to create spaces to help writers who may have lost confidence, feel intimidated, or simply want compassionate and constructive editorial feedback and coaching. We are proud of the fact that we foster safe spaces where writers feel empowered to take risks, share their work, and connect with others.

We are a small, values-driven business that pours time, heart, and resources into creating nourishing retreat experiences. These policies help ensure the long-term sustainability of the work while keeping our retreats intimate and accessible.
Your registration reserves and guarantees your spot in our small, limited-capacity retreat. Because we intentionally keep our groups small and commit to programming costs well in advance, all payments are considered final under the following terms:
Deposits
A $250 deposit is required to reserve your space. This deposit is non-refundable, as we use it to secure housing and resources for the group. However, if we are able to fill your spot after you cancel, we’re happy to refund your deposit in full or apply it as a credit toward a future retreat — whichever feels best for you.
Remaining Payments
After the deposit, all remaining payments are also non-refundable once they are made, as we plan staffing, meals, materials, and lodging based on confirmed participation.
If Something Unexpected Comes Up
If you need to cancel for any reason (including illness, personal emergencies, or scheduling conflicts), we will do our best to fill your spot so we may be able to refund you.
Arrival, Departure, or No-Show
Because costs remain the same regardless of attendance, we cannot offer refunds or credits for late arrival, early departure, or non-attendance.
If We Need to Cancel
In the unlikely event that we must cancel, you may choose either a full refund or apply your full balance to a future retreat date. Please note that we cannot reimburse travel expenses, transportation, or personal costs.
Travel Protection
For your peace of mind, we strongly encourage purchasing travel insurance that covers illness, emergencies, and unexpected interruptions
