About your trip

"Knot Your Average Weaving" is a five-day immersive workshop designed to unlock the art of frame loom weaving for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Dive into a world of texture and creativity as you master fundamental techniques like warping, tabby, rya, soumak, and twining. As you are ready to go beyond the basics we will explore fiber and yarn manipulation. Learn to create unique textured yarns, incorporate braids, beads, and found objects. We will discuss and work through various finishing methods to showcase your woven masterpieces. Whether you're looking to craft stunning wall hangings or simply explore the meditative process of weaving, this workshop will equip you with the skills and inspiration to transform yarn and fiber into captivating works of art.

Terry Neal

From childhood, fiber has been integral to Terry's identity, sparking a lifelong curiosity about its role in everyday life. Her exploration of fiber's potential, from raw material to thread, yarn, fabric, and art, has led her to explore a diverse range of techniques, including spinning, knitting, crocheting, dyeing, weaving, needle felting, embroidery, needlepoint, tatting, and sewing. Terry's passion for sharing her knowledge is evident in her past teaching experiences at the YMCA, fiber events, and local craft stores. These experiences culminated in the creation of Tempe Yarn & Fiber, where for over 19 years, she has dedicated herself to teaching or creating her own art.  Most days find her in her dye studio, where Tempe Yarn’s Dyelicious Yarn Line is dyed. Driven by a mind brimming with ideas and "What Ifs," Terry's primary goal still remains to inspire and support others on their own unique fiber journeys.
