  • The Foundation: Master the essentials of warping your loom, tabby weave, rya, and soumak.

  • The Scenic Route: Add "twining" to your repertoire and begin manipulating yarn to create one-of-a-kind textures.

  • The Souvenirs: Incorporate braids, beads, and found objects to make the work truly your own.

  • The Horizon: Explore advanced weave structures, warp and sett choices, and how weaving intertwines with knitting, crochet, or macramé.

  • The Final View: Master both playful and polished finishing techniques to display your woven masterpieces.

Terry is a lifelong fiber enthusiast who has spent over 20 years at the heart of Tempe Yarn & Fiber.+1

  • Background: Expert in spinning, knitting, crochet, dyeing, and weaving.

  • Specialty: Creator of the Dyelicious Yarns Line, dreaming up new colors in her studio.

  • Philosophy: She believes in moving at your own pace and following the techniques that spark your personal curiosity. Her goal is to cheer you on as you transform fiber into vibrant, expressive art.+2

Terry Neal

Terry’s been in love with fiber since childhood—seriously, from thread to yarn to fabric, it’s her

world! She’s explored it all—spinning, knitting, crochet, dyeing, weaving, you name it! For 20+

years, she’s been at the heart of Tempe Yarn & Fiber, teaching, creating, and dyeing her

Dyelicious Yarns Line. Whether she’s working in her studio, or dreaming up new colors for

Dyelicious, nothing thrills her more than having the opportunity to cheer others on as they dive

into their own fiber adventures!

What's included

Materials Provided

An Easel Loom, tools to weave with, Variety of yarn & fiber for learning techniques and creating your weaving

What's not included

Incorporations

Any small items you are interested in encorporating into your weaving (such as beads, shells, buttons), small bits of special yarns

Crochet Hook

If you already have it and crochet a crochet hook in size G or H, AND/OR if you knit and already have it size 4 or 5 or 6 DPN

Knot Your Average Weaving Retreat

Monday Evening:

Check in to your room starting at 3pm. Dinner will be served at 5pm followed by social time.


Tuesday - Thursday; Daily: Breakfast served at 9am, Lunch at Noon and Dinner at 5pm.


Friday: Breakfast will be served at 9am. Retreat will conclude after lunch. Check out of room by noon, but attendees are welcome to hand around to finish up and work on projects following check out.

·  Techniques for finishing the edges of your woven piece

·  Options for framing, hanging, or displaying your woven art in creative ways

Note: Depending on how participants work through the material they should have time to begin a second piece
