Located 200 nautical miles east of Bali, the Komodo National Park is nestled between the large island of Sumbawa and Flores in Indonesia, all of which are part of the Lesser Sunda Islands. Accepted under the UNESCO Man and the Biosphere Programme in January 1977, and officially declared a World Heritage Site in 1991, Komodo National Park encompasses 132,000 hectares of marine waters making it one of the largest protected zones in the world.
Diving in Komodo National Park is best done by liveaboard (and we've chosen one of the best!), which allows you to explore the area to its fullest. The park and surrounding area boasts one of the world’s richest marine environments, with over 260 species of reef building coral, 70 species of sponge, marine worms, mollusks, echinoderms, crustaceans, over 1,000 species of cartilaginous and bony fish, marine reptiles, and marine mammals. Some notable marine species on this 10 night itinerary include pygmy seahorses, anglerfish, nudibranchs, manta rays, dolphins, Napolean wrasse and groupers.
Divers are required to have Advanced Open Water certification, or equivalent, with a minimum of 50 logged dives.
Launched in April 2011, the 40m Indo Siren liveaboard was built on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi and is handcrafted from ironwood and teak (traditional to the area). You will find no other diving liveaboard as beautiful in Indonesian waters and, being built by divers for divers, you can be rest assured that every need has been thought of and addressed. Welcoming a maximum of 16 guests per cruise ensures that there is ample space to relax. The 8 guest cabins consist of 2 fixed doubles, 4 fixed twins and 2 flexible twin/doubles, all with air-conditioning and private ensuite bathrooms with hot water. The covered outdoor dining area provides a great setting for your meals and dive briefings. The spacious air-conditioned saloon offers a cocktail bar, comfortable seating, charging station and a large flat screen TV.
For individuals. The 6 spacious twin bed cabins offer individually controlled air-conditioning, plenty of storage room and private en-suite bathrooms with hot water. Choose this option if you are travelling solo - we will pair you up with a roomie of the same gender, or put in booking notes who you'd like to room with if you have a friend booked on the trip
For couples. The 2 spacious double cabins with a double bed located at the bow offer individually controlled air-conditioning units, plenty of storage room and private en-suite bathrooms with hot water. Suitable for couples or close friends. Book as a couple(2 people)
Embarkation is dependent on flight arrival time. When all guests are on board introductions, boat and safety briefings will be conducted after which guests can set up their equipment or relax before dinner is served. If time allows, an afternoon check dive may be carried out but is not guaranteed.
