Day 1

Upon reaching the Cuyabeno bridge

After traveling by bus to the Cuyabeno bridge, (check in at 9:00 am) our guide will be waiting to pick you up and go to receive a talk at the interpretation center for approximately 1 hour and then board the canoes that will take us to our “Cuyabeno River Lodge” camp. After lunch, we will take the adaptation walk along the “Sendero de los Ceibos” for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes. Upon return we will prepare our tents and other logistics for our canoe trip. In the evening, we will have a talk to plan the next day. Dinner and overnight at Cuyabeno River Lodge.

Day 2

Visit to the Siona Community

After breakfast, we begin our journey along the Cuyabeno River, entering the thick jungle to the Siona community, where we will be able to see their customs and experience their way of making food, assisting in the making of cassava or casabe bread. We will continue traveling along the river and arrive at Puerto Montufar to set up our camp.

Day 3

Lagarto Cocha

After a delicious breakfast we will continue our trip, passing through different military checkpoints on the Aguarico River. Upon arriving at Zancudococha we will navigate the Zancudo River in search of pink dolphins and one of the largest mammals and most fragile species in the Amazon River region. If we are lucky we will find manatees and caimans. Then we will set up camp to spend the night in the jungle of the Amazon basin followed by dinner and camping.

Lagarto Cocha Lagoon Expedition

 After breakfast at 8:00, we will continue the trip until we reach our destination Lagarto Cocha, here we will be able to observe the pink dolphins in their habitat. In addition, we will be able to see monkeys, parrots, macaws and, with special attention, we will be able to find traces of mammals such as tapirs, pacas and jaguars along the way. After lunch, you can enjoy the refreshing waters of the Delfin Cocha lagoon, “the dolphin lagoon,” and look for a place to go piranha fishing. You will also have the opportunity to swim with pink river dolphins in the warm waters of the lake. After dinner we will search for alligators in the canoe with weather conditions, river level and other factors as the guide allows. Dinner and camp.

Bird Watching- Río Aguarico

For bird lovers, you will have the opportunity to go for a walk very early to observe the majestic sounds of the jungle when you wake up. After this hike, we will return to our camp to enjoy a delicious breakfast before returning along the Aguarico River to reach our camp in Zabálo. Dinner and camp.

Visit a traditional shaman Cofan.

Before breakfast, we will have another opportunity to take an early morning walk to observe the differences between a wetland jungle terrain and a dry land terrain. Breakfast, we will visit a watchtower where you can observe the canopy of the Amazon jungle. We will return to camp for lunch before continuing our journey to visit a traditional Cofan shaman where we will watch a ceremony and camp for the night. Dinner and camp.

Aguas Negras River

After breakfast we will continue sailing along the Cuyabeno River to the Aguas Negras region, during the course of the trip we will stop to have a snack. In the Aguas Negras area we can search for anacondas. Dinner and Camp.

Day 8

Day 8 image

Cuyabeno River Lodge

After breakfast we will continue our return and arrive at the Laguna Grande, where we will take a refreshing swim and then we can take photographs. After lunch we will continue to the Cuyabeno River lodge to take a complete break from the trip. Rest and accommodation.

Day 9

Bird Watching Check out

Very early in the morning, we will go to do Bird Watching (optional activity), we must remember to tell the guide the night before to make them wake up to be able to do this activity. During this journey, you can see toucans, macaws and parrots. Breakfast. It will take place (check out 11:00AM) we will go towards the Cuyabeno Bridge where we will board the direct bus or our own car.
