Lake Chala (Jala), is a crater lake in a caldera on the border of Tanzania and Kenya on the eastern rim of Mount Kilimanjaro, located 48 km from Moshi Town, about an hour. Depending on the season, its color varies from deep blue to turquoise and green, it is surrounded by a 100-meter-high crater rim. The lake is fed by groundwater streams coming from Kilimanjaro, which are injected and discharged underground at a rate of about 10 million m³/year.
