About this trip

Explore the old-world beauty of this rich land of historical significance with its royal heritage, medieval castles, and intriguing theatrical stories.

TERMS

Trip price/Travel dates: Trip price and travel dates are subject to change due to airline availability and unforeseen tax or fuel surcharge increases. The trip price is based on a minimum number of travelers. If the minimum number of travelers is not reached, modifications to the trip may be made to cover additional vendor costs. Any necessary changes to these will be discussed and mutually agreed to by the group leader.

Deposits/Payments: Deposits are non-refundable and payments are non-transferable. Payments can be made online through the traveler’s account or sent via mail to 16400 US HWY 331 S, B2 #263, Freeport, FL 32439.

Late fees/Returned check fees: Any late payment received after a 7-day grace period will cause an automatic late fee charge of $20 per traveler/per occurrence. A $15 returned check fee will be charged for any returned check.

Accommodations: The trip price includes hotel accommodations and is based on triple occupancy for students and double occupancy for adults. If different rooming arrangements are requested, additional charges may apply.

Tips: Vendor tips are included in your trip price, but a tip for your Appleseed Tour Director is not. We appreciate your consideration for tipping Tour Directors as they are with your group throughout the duration of your trip, managing the program such as teaching, safety, logistics and unexpected issues that may arise like medical illness/accidents or changes needed due to weather, etc.

Baggage limits/fees: Each traveler is limited to 1 suitcase with a 40 lb. limit, 1 small bag such as a tote or carry-on item and 1 personal item such as a purse. Travelers are responsible for carrying their own luggage and in some cases, this could include carrying bags up stairs. Please note, travelers are subject to baggage fees charged by the airlines. If flying, check your airline website to verify all baggage fees and requirements.

Cancellations: All cancellations must be made in writing via email or direct mail and received in our FL office by the date of cancellation. To cancel via email, send notice to billing@appleseedexpeditions.com. To cancel via direct mail, send notice to 16400 US HWY 331 S, B2, #263, Freeport, FL 32439.

Refunds: Refunds will be given on a prorated basis. For cancellations received prior to 90 days before the trip departure date, the non-refundable deposit is retained by Appleseed. For cancellations received between 90-61 days prior to departure date, deposit + 30% of the trip price is retained by Appleseed. For cancellations received 60-31 days prior to departure date, deposit + 50% of the trip price is retained by Appleseed. No refunds will be given for cancellations received 30 days or less prior to the trip departure date. If a trip has been postponed, the refund policy is based on the original travel dates.

Trip cancellation insurance: The price of your trip does not include trip cancellation insurance. In the event of a cancellation, travelers may lose a portion or all of their funds paid. It is strongly recommended that travelers purchase trip cancellation insurance to recover funds they may possibly lose due to a cancellation.

Right to trip modification: Appleseed Expeditions shall have the right, at any time in its discretion and without liability or cost, to modify any trip or portion of a trip to include but not limited to changes in accommodations, activities, transportation or travel dates in the event of any trip being rendered unsafe or the event of unforeseen circumstances such as a change in weather or reasons beyond our control.

Right to traveler cancellation: Appleseed Expeditions reserves the right to send any traveler home at any time during the trip due to behavioral issues at the traveler's expense or parent's expense in a manner determined by Appleseed Expeditions if Appleseed deems the behavior as a safety risk to other travelers or deems the behavior as causing a disruption to the program. No refunds will be given for any unused portion of the trip.

Wonderful experience! Jody was great and very patient and kind to all of our children. Very knowledgeable about Puerto Rico and made learing information fun for 5th grade boys.

To whom it may concern, Overall, the Le Monde Puerto Rico trip was amazing. I enjoyed visiting the places chosen, eating delicious food, and having a great guide, Jody, to tell us stories and fill us in on the history of some of the places we saw. Jody was flexible, understanding, and willing to adapt to the group. I would travel with him again. I think the hotel was good, although I would suggest they invest in working washers and dryers to handle all the guests (there were long lines at times and only one working washer and one working dryer) and include more local food for breakfast. There were some things that I would suggest the company change for future endeavors with school trips, particularly with 10-11-year-old children. Not everyone is used to the weather in the places we visited, so water on the bus for us to hydrate would have been wonderful (maybe a cooler with some ice water). The guide spoke mainly English, although he did use the target language more once I asked him to do so. For us, this was an immersion cultural trip, and even though the students didn’t have the confidence to use the language, they were used to hearing it and understanding it daily. The food and restaurants were great, but I got the impression that these places were not expecting us and there were a couple of times when they ran out of an item on the menu. The ordering of meals was hectic at some of these places, with children waiting up to an hour to get their meals (even when pre-ordering was done). I would suggest notifying the restaurant that such a large group would come at a certain time and allowing them to prepare accordingly (maybe preparing a special menu for the visitors traveling so the kiddos could practice their Spanish and the kitchen doesn’t get so swamped- I noticed the kitchen staff being very frustrated when plates got mixed up and food was not ready). Some of the activities could have been better planned. We visited a language institute on the second day, preceded by a 3-hour walk under the sun. The parents did well during their Spanish lesson, but the children did not appreciate having to sit through a class (we had no idea they were going to have class) after having been under the sun for so many hours. I would suggest visiting the institute in the morning followed by a walk. The third day was filled with water activities. Maybe scattering some of these on other days would be better. I believe that is all. Again, overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I think the children will cherish this experience forever, so I am happy that they had a great time, despite some of these shortcomings. Nonetheless, I would welcome Jody to be our guide on future travels.
