About this trip

Lamanai is located on the western shore of the New River Lagoon, near the village of Indian Church in the Orange Walk District. It has the longest known Maya history of occupation in the area and was first settled around 900 BC. Long before the arrival of the Spaniards.

Archaeological work was first conducted in early 1900. At Lamanai take a tour and visit the Mask Temple. It is unique to the Maya Area because its the way, it has been constructed from blocks of limestone rather than from plaster over a stone core.
