The Lamu Yoga Festival is one of the premiere yoga festivals in the world. We've curated a journey designed around this fantastic event with a comfortable base for all of our attendees. This is a small group retreat with only five attendees, the vibe will be intimate and relaxed. Every traveler will have their own room with ensuite bath for the duration of the trip, ensuring the perfect mix of privacy and group connection.
The Magic of Lamu
Nestled on Kenya's northern coast, Lamu Island is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Africa's most captivating destinations. Shela village, where we'll be based, offers pristine beaches, car-free streets, and stunning Swahili architecture. The gentle rhythm of island life, where donkeys are the main form of transport and centuries-old traditions remain intact, creates the perfect setting for deep personal transformation.
Your Transformative Journey
This carefully crafted experience begins with the physical practice of yoga during the festival, opening the body and mind. We then journey inward with a sacred medicine ceremony, followed by integration time to absorb and embody these experiences. Throughout this process, you'll be supported in a comfortable, beautiful environment where connection with yourself and others can flourish.
Your Hosts
Your journey will be guided by Sara Ucendo, a medicine woman dedicated to ancient healing traditions. Sara helps participants reconnect with their true essence, clearing pathways to reclaim their power and deepen trust in themselves and their bodies through traditional medicine work.
The Transformative Journeys team, Candice and Rita, will be your organizers and hosts, present to assist you from start to finish. With their extensive travel expertise and personal development backgrounds, they ensure every aspect of your journey is seamless and supportive.

After we close out the yoga festival, with open minds and bodies, we will journey inward for our sacred retreat offerings.
In the morning after the closing, we will sit in sacred ceremony with Sara as she guides the group through a heart and womb clearing session with kambo.
This treatment is specific to reconnect and clear the pathway between the hear/love and the womb/sexuality in women. The process of purification, letting go and creating space for something that is more aligned with you.
Kambo cleanse is a powerful reset of the mind & body and through the purge of mental, physical and emotional toxins. A rite of passage that will awaken ones inner spiritual strength, stamina and human experience though letting go on a physical way.
Note on Kambo: This ceremony is optional but highly recommended as a central part of our retreat experience. Kambo is a traditional Amazonian medicine that should be approached with respect. It is generally safe when administered properly, but is not recommended for people with serious heart conditions, those on psychiatric medications, or women who are pregnant. We will provide a detailed health questionnaire before the retreat to ensure this experience is appropriate for you.
The afternoon will be dedicated to integration and rest, with a light, nourishing dinner in the evening.
We will being the day with Sara leading us in breathwork as our anchor for the Mothership.
The Mothership (large spacecraft where smaller ships refuel and get launched into the cosmos) calling you to step into otherworldly dimension, guided and held gracefully to transport you on a deep and transformative inward journey.
An invitation to explore the depths beneath the conscious mind, held in the nurturing embrace of the feminine.
This powerful experienced merges Conscious Connected Breathwork to awaken your aliveness. Combining the holy trinity of medicine, breath and sound.
After this ceremony we will spend the afternoon bringing it all together through a transformative live sound journey with gongs, singing bowls and other instruments.
