About this trip

New Mexico and Balloon Festival!

Discover the Land of Enchantment on an unforgettable journey this fall, centered around the awe-inspiring spectacle of the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, New Mexico's signature event. Enjoy Native American culture, historical Taos, stunning Santa Fe, views from Sandia Peak, loads of Nuclear history, and some of the best food you can find. This winding adventure through the expansive vistas and boundless skies of the Southwest's magnificent deserts promises an experience like no other.

At the core of this expedition lies the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta, renowned as the world's largest balloon festival and a must-have on every adventurer's bucket list. Picture yourself surrounded by hundreds of vibrant balloons gracefully ascending against the backdrop of the Sandia Mountains in the serene morning light. The desert sunrise paints the sky with luminous hues as skilled pilots navigate their colorful vessels toward the heavens. Witness the Mass Ascension in the morning one day and the captivating After Glow event in the evening on another, where you can stroll amidst the balloons, their propane burners casting a twinkling glow against the deep blue canvas of the sky. This tour promises to etch indelible memories of the Southwest's expansive deserts and limitless skies.

I had a wonderful time, great ppl, great tour guides. Requested ADA accommodations not so great in Hood River, but excellent at Skamania Lodge.

I had a wonderful time. Enjoyed awesome food and scenery. Traveled in areas that I had not ever traveled before. Everything was excellent.

Wonderful Wallowas, great train and tram ride, restaurants and lodging were good, performers at Bavarian Alpenfest were sensational! Tom was very good at improvising when certain places were closed, he was very patient. Please do trip again next year, thank you

It was pretty good. Chris was terrific, as always. The Motel in Joseph was OK but not great. No extra t.p. No one in the office for helping. The other motels were fine, but we kept getting put on the second floor, even though we requested the ground floor. Harder for old people to walk up stairs. The museums were all fine. Wallowa Lake Tram was fantastic!

Except for second floor rooms with no elevators in two places and the tight fit for long legs in the van it was a great trip. Enjoyed the quirky podcasts while on the road. Meals were pretty heavy, but Eastern Oregon is that way. We did go to the best options, I think. Very much enjoyed the places we went, and appreciated that we did some back roads. Group size was just right. Tom was amazingly patient and kind. I would travel with him again.
