About your trip

Rio Landscapes – Go Beyond the View. Live the Story.

Rio de Janeiro is world-famous for its beaches and samba, but its green side holds incredible secrets! On our Rio Landscapes tour, we invite you on a unique journey through forests, viewpoints, and parks, where lush nature blends with Afro-Indigenous history and heritage.

This experience unveils the legacy of a city once called the "Garden of the World," showcasing landscapes that have inspired artists, poets, and travelers for generations.

Highlights

- Botanical Garden – Founded in 1808, Rio’s Botanical Garden was created to acclimate plant species from around the world. Today, it is one of the most beautiful and important botanical gardens in Latin America.

- Vista Chinesa & Mesa do Imperador (available on weekdays only) – Two breathtaking viewpoints located inside the Tijuca Forest, offering one of the most stunning panoramic views of the city. Accessible Monday to Friday only.

- Tijuca Forest – One of the largest reforested urban rainforests in the world, Tijuca Forest is a symbol of environmental resilience. The tour includes a stop at the Visitor Center, where you'll learn about the forest’s restoration after centuries of deforestation, and a visit to the Taunay Waterfall, one of Rio’s most scenic falls.

Etnias Turismo

Founded in 2018 and led by professionals with over 20 years of experience in the tourism sector, Etnias Turismo is a Rio de Janeiro-based DMC specialized in Afrotourism and cultural tourism. Our team is majority Black, composed of educators, historians, and guides licensed by Brazil's Ministry of Tourism.

We design Afrocentric, decolonial itineraries that connect travelers to African ancestry, Afro-Brazilian heritage, and living memory territories - from Pequena África and the historic city center to Madureira, quilombo communities, and the Rota do Samba.

Recognized nationally and internationally, we served as official curators and operators of the Black Travel Summit (2025) and the Festival da Diáspora (2024). We are also the official curators and operators of the Rota do Samba Vila Isabel, developed in partnership with EMBRATUR.

Our purpose: conscious, immersive, and transformative travel - rooted in the valorization of Afro-Brazilian identity and heritage.
