About your trip

Yoga, hiking, camping, adventure, and community await just a short 4 hour drive from the Bay Area in the majestic Lassen Volcanic National Park. Start the day meditating as the sun rises over Butte lake. Two yoga classes a day are offered at sunrise and just before sunset, leaving most of the day to take hiking and swimming adventures around Butte Lake Campground and Lassen National Park or just hang around the campsite and read a good book.

Lassen Volcanic National Park is home to smoking fumaroles, meadows freckled with wildflowers, clear mountain lakes, and numerous volcanoes. Jagged peaks tell the story of its eruptive past while hot water continues to mold the land. Lassen Volcanic offers opportunities to discover the wonder and mysteries of volcanoes and hot water for visitors willing to explore the undiscovered.

We will be camping at Butte Lake Campground. Butte Lake Campground is located six miles south of highway 44 at the end of the Butte Lake road. This remote campground offers a few amenities, but numerous recreation opportunities. Enjoy a sunrise hike up Cinder Cone, a dip in Bathtub Lake or a paddle along Butte Lake's lava rock shores.

Dogs FAQ's

Dogs FAQ's image

We love dogs. Please read this before you bring your dog on retreat.

Can I bring my dog on the retreat?

We used to have a really loose policy around having dogs on retreat as there was little to no supervision of our group at Butte Lake campground.

Last year they had a campground host family that was following all of the rules about dogs.

So I have to be more strict in my expectations around people bringing dogs on retreats. Please see below with some guidance.

  • Dogs are welcome at the park but not allowed on trails, in the river, in Butte Lake, on beaches, and must always be on a leash.
  • Dogs are allowed only in developed areas - campsites, roads, and day use areas.
  • Dogs NEED to be on the leash at the campsite.
  • They are NOT allowed to be on the beach where we practice yoga every morning.
  • There are great fire roads nearby (5-10 min drive from camp) that we usually take dogs for walks/hikes.
  • I will most likely bring my 12.5 year old dog Zoey but will place her in a shaded/well ventilated car as appropriate for our hikes.
If you would still like to bring your dog on the retreat.
  • Please email me and lets have a discussion. pete@petegyoga.com
