About this trip

4 to 6 days of adventure exploring the most remote corners of the Last Hope province, Usually known for Torres del Paine National Park, the small town of Puerto Natales and the province of Ultima Esperanza have much more to offer.

We start in town with a trip to Estancia La Peninsula, located at the shores of the Last Hope Fjord you get the chance to visit this incredible landscape in one of the last operating estancias of the Antonio Varas Peninsula. The evergreen forests and cliffs that fall to the fjord make this estancia one of the few places where tourists can experience the Patagonian fjords and the culture that forged a life in these places.

After time at La Peninsula, we will head back to the mainland and head north, towards a completely different place, Sierra Baguales or as we like to call them, the Patagonian Highlands. High above the sea, this treeless landscape has been used as our family summer pastures for decades. On our drive there we can drive through the Torres del Paine National Park being able to see all the highlights of this wonderful landmark, just to head up norht and escape the crowds in one of the most remote locations, Baguales Glamping where we will be sleeping in our luxury domes with central heating, hot water and fully functional toilets in the middle of the mountains.

We will thoroughly explore different areas by the chosen means, all of this adventures are in private with your guide and assisting staff, you will be exposed with the diferrent opportunities that you have according to the place, the weather and your own capabilities and wishes so in terms of activities it is a very flexible program when talking about included activities (hiking, & horseback riding). Other activities such as fishing or 4x4 exploration are possible in both locations and can be organized through excellent local third-party providers but this will need a confirmation in advance.

General Itinerary - Base Program

Day 1 - Start from Puerto Natales at 9.00 AM,  head to Estancia La Peninsula and enjoy your guided activities for the day - Sleep at Barrosa Cabin.

Take the boat back to mainland and head to Estancia Baguales. Arrive at Baguales Glamping around 6 to 7 PM just in time for dinner and a good nights rest.

Day 3 - Day of activities at Baguales, explore the beautiful valleys of one of the most remote places in Patagonia. Discover the secrets that million of years of fossils can show to us.

Day 4 - Morning of activities of your choosing, grab a lunch as a last meal and head back to Puerto Natales or Torres del Paine National park.

ADDS ONE DAY TO ITINERARY.

Puerto Natales stay - For the transition between Estancia La Peninsula and Los Baguales instead of going up straight to baguales you could stay in Puerto Natales, enjoy the town and a nice dinner. Also this gives you the opportunity to go earlier up to Baguales the next day giving you more time to do activities there or do a whole day driving through Torres del Paine National Park and doing the best short hikes and lookouts here. ADDS ONE DAY TO ITINERARY.

Traverse Out of Los Baguales - Special add-on for horse riding lovers, people with more experience can on the last day traverse out of Estancia Los Baguales towards Las Chinas Valley for incredible sights of mountains, wild horses and end the trip with great plains for galloping. The car will pick you up there to drive straight to either Puerto Natales or Torres del Paine National park to finalize your trip.

At Barrosa the cabin has two rooms each with a private bathroom and the following bed arrangements:

– 1 room with a double bed (which can also be separated into two twin beds)
– 1 room with twin beds and the possibility to add another bed as a bunk bed.
* It is possible to have both rooms with double beds, but we recommend you check with us before booking.

At Baguales Glamping we have availability for 8 people in 4 domes with beds that can be either twin or double.

Food & Beverages

As per your meals, we organize this adventures to have you excellent meals in the remotest places of Patagonia. We focus on simple meals with the best ingredients available out there. Breakfasts are hardy for a full day of activities, we include Juice, cereal/granola, yoghurt and milk, bread; eggs and bacon freshly cooked and selection of fruits amongst other things.

Usually after breakfast if we are doing a full day of activities and not coming back to camp we prepare a sandwich or tortilla station where each of you can prepare it according to your likes plus cereal bars, dried fruits, fruits, chocolates, and other healthy snacks to fill your pockets.

Our main meal is an early dinner where we usually set up a little appetizer station while the food is finishing up. Dinners are a special local meal with local ingredients and there is always tasty salads to go with them, there will always be some kind of dessert, simple, local treat to sweeten the palate and digestives available.

as for drinks we always have available beer, wine, gin&tonic, whisky, fernet and pisco. We do not offer soft drinks like coca cola, sprite and those kind of drinks, if you really want them in your trip you can request us to have your drink of preference.

We always include local fish, typical seafood dishes and of course our local meats, you will have a few barbeques organized but we try to keep it balanced and not plan to have barbeque meat everyday, although that would be the most typical local diet :). If you are in the area, you need to do this! The people are amazing, the food (and wine) is unbelievably good, and the horse riding surreal. Our best day and experience so far in Patagonia. Thank you for an unforgettable day!

We had a wonderful time! The staff were amazing and the lamb meal was incredible! The whole experience was quite cool. The weather for horseback riding was a bit cold however if i would have dressed appropriately it would have been fine! Highly recommend!

We did the full day horseback riding, which was the highlight of our time in Patagonia. First, both Ian and Trisha were absolutely fantastic hosts. It's one thing to see beautiful landscapes, but when your guides are super personable, it makes a big difference. We enjoyed their company. Trisha, who knows the area like the back of her hand, was our guide for the day, and she took us through canyons and rivers, passing one mountain after the other. We could also do a little cantering and watch Trisha and her dogs herd wandering animals in the area. How grand is that? Plus, we loved having their dogs accompany us the entire time. And the horses? Possibly the calmest I've yet to meet. One even nudged me for a scratch. Midway through the day we stopped at a small dwelling for a bite, allowing letting us to relax for a bit and take it all in. The scenery is just stunning. If you love the idea of being in raw and remote wilderness, this is the place to be. End of day, Trisha showed us a small museum on the property which has interesting artifacts from the area, such as fossilized leaves and sharks' teeth. On top of the riding, Ian picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel. During our drive we talked about all things Patagonia, and we appreciated him sharing his knowledge — which was quite interesting — about the area. Ian, Trisha, thanks again for a truly epic day.
