I feel SO lucky to have chosen this program for so many reasons!! Michelle is the MOST AMAZING TEACHER (seems like there are a couple other teachers - if I were recommending to a friend I'd say to make sure to sign up for one that Michelle is teaching). I learned more than I could have imagined and she teaches in such an approachable, chill, engaging way. We had such an amazing group of women. The house/school is like a 2 min walk from a stunning little beach, I swam at least once every day. The food was unbelievable. The mosquitos are the only downside -- bring repellant with deet (or you can buy at a pharmacy nearby). Lisa and Kandice were amazing. I paid for the organized transportation and am definitely glad I did (at least on the way there, because it's not a simple journey and was comforting to have Lisa coordinating and available to help on Whatsapp). There is also a masseuse who lives literally next door, Maryanne. I literally might go back to Isla Mujeres just for another massage. Truly can't express how magical of an experience this was, thank you Michelle, Lisa, Kandice!! <3

Amazing! Such a beautiful team of people who have created a really wonderful program. I learned so much about yoga, myself, and the other incredible participants and teacher/coordinators of the program. The location was perfect, the food sooo delicious, and the teacher was inspirational. I am so excited to go forth and teach yoga while staying true to and appreciating/incorporating it's roots in Hinduism. Not to mention, I just had a great time and met some great people!

I wasn't able to attend this retreat due to illness. The team was very nice in all their communications, but wasn't willing to make any accommodation - travel insurance would not cover my situation but I didn't want to risk getting anyone else on the retreat sick. While I understand that there are costs associated with putting on a retreat, so it makes sense they wouldn't be able to offer a full refund, even a small credit towards a future teacher training would have been appreciated. The entire situation made me feel like Kootenay Yoga School cared more about money than spreading the joy of teaching yoga or practicing kindness.

Hi Jolie! I hope all is well for you - I am not only shocked but sad that you would take this stance and leave a review like this. You know, as well as we do - that you cancelled 7.5 hours before the actual opening ceremony was to start. You also signed a virtual document regarding the policies. The policy clearly states our refund process and terms. You also were instructed in that policy to ensure you had cancellation insurance.....you purchased this, but were unable to make a claim successfully with the insurance provide for some reason. I know insurance can be complicated to navigate - but this is not something that we caused or contributed to. We had no notice, no communication - and no chances to fill your space, in a limited spaces program. You actually divulged that you had been having a hard time sleeping as the reason you would not be attending....with as I say, less than a business day 's worth of notice. When you and I spoke via whats app, you acknowledged that it was understandable to not be refunded in this circumstance, and hoped to be with us in the future. You also said initially you might want to join us in a few days - which made things even more unknown and complicated for us as a school. I am very sorry you were not able to attend because of personal circumstance, but I hope you can understand the lack of refund was not because of our lacking kindness - but because there was a lack of notice and communication on your end. We also have an obligation to adhere to our signed policies - which most students really respect. All the best to you and hope that you are now feeling rested and well. Ready for a wonderful 2023! Lisa

If I could give Kootenay Yoga School 10 stars I would. Everything was so beautifully curated - the staff, housing, food, transportation, communication, people - I couldn't have dreamt up a better team and environment. Our teacher Michelle was absolutely dynamite. Her curriculum was exactly what I was looking for in a YTT Program. Lisa, Kandice, the grounds staff, the kitchen staff...every single person who made this trip run like a well-oiled machine deserves the world and all the recognition. If you're thinking about taking a trip to Isla Mujeres, think no further. Just do it. It was a trip of a lifetime.

A wonderful experience in Joshua Tree. The weather graced us with January rain storms, multiple rainbows, strong winds, and beautiful cool starry nights. The food was amazing, and plentiful. The group of ladies were wonderful, and our instructor, Marcia, was phenomenal. The accommodations were comfortable. I would have liked to have known more about the space itself prior to arrival, like the shared outhouse(with a real toilet <not port-o-potty>) the one shared indoor shower, and the sleeping arrangements (glamping trailers and a bunkhouse) Sitting on the floor of the shala for daily learning was painful for the first few days, I’d recommend bringing a small camping chair with you. And snacks if you get peckish. I brought protein powder with me and was glad to have it as the menu is mostly vegan and veggie dominant (and incredibly delicious) but not a lot of protein dense foods. Addy seriously needs to make a cookbook, the food was a huge highlight of the experience. Bring warmer clothes than you think if coming in a cooler month. Having a car would be helpful if you want to get out, you’re not walking distance to town (also a big perk the silence is incredible), and if you want to go to the park on your day off for a hike. Would recommend this experience to friends and others looking for a full experience in the desert, immersed in nature and good vibes. I learned a lot and am so happy to have attended. Thank you!

I have completed the 200-hour yoga teacher training with Kootenay Yoga School at their beautiful location in Isla Mujeres Mexico (a small Island in the Caribbean Sea). Where to start? Sign up and be totally comfortable that u’ll have the best experience. The location is in a jungle vibe, modest, clean & organized. The food is vegetarian, organic, super healthy prepared by a talented young lady - Addy the owner’s daughter, who works hard to make sure every dietary requirement is met. Lisa, the owner, is a professional woman who is very meticulous and follows up with every detail, making the experience worthy. The whole team, from Kandice, Silvia, to the kitchen staff are very helpful and kind. Stephania (Steff) our teacher made every lesson interesting and enjoyable, the fire and energy in her, the knowledge she shared in Anatomy, was outstanding as if a doctor is explaining. The course is intensive, however, well divided throughout the days. Steff is also flexible and no matter how tired one is, we would put the effort to be punctual in her classes and enjoy the information shared. I was lucky to be with amazing people from different countries and cultures, we clicked and had so much fun together. Yes, it’s hot and humid and u need mosquito repellent. It’s not that bad at all. The beach is 5’ walk from the school and it’s breathtaking. So is Punta Sur most easternmost point of Mexico and u get to see numerous iguanas in that region too. I felt so safe in the school and the whole island. 💜🧘🏻‍♀️
