About this trip

Together, we will face the truth of our nation's history of anti-Black racial terror and violence, self reflect on the ways each of us have upheld and perpetuated white supremacy in our lives, and embrace our ability to affect change and dismantle racism, first within ourselves, and then in our families and communities.

Our purpose is to listen to and learn from Black leadership, utilize antiracism tools and resources  to strategize ways to do less harm, be better co-conspirators to BIPOC and develop ways to move forward with mindful action toward collective liberation.

Once registered, participants will receive soul assignments, which is basically pre-work (books, podcasts, documentaries, etc) to help them get started on building a solid foundation for their personal anti-racism journey.

Following every Legacy Trip, guests are invited and encouraged to participate in free monthly alumni calls to stay engaged with the Legacy family and continue cultivating community and accountability in their ongoing antiracism journey. We also offer a Legacy Trips After Care program for those who want a more expansive and comprehensive support system.

We invite you to engage in this transformational experience as we delve into these courageous conversations with trip facilitators Lettie Gore and Tommy Allgood.

Lettie Gore is a historian, educator, and advocate living in Wilmington, NC. She is also the host and owner of her podcast History Shows Us. Lettie’s passion for telling history’s truths and connecting the past to today’s racial and social justice issues is evident in the work she does.

She received her MA in History in 2015, focusing primarily on American history and specializing in African-American studies. She received her MA in Conflict Management & Resolution in May 2020, allowing her to use mediation, facilitation, and effective communication skills in her work as an educator and advocate. Leading and facilitating workshops to equip people with skills to have the “hard” conversations is something Lettie also enjoys. This will be the 3rd Legacy Trip that Lettie has led.

This was a masterfully planned and facilitated trip. The majority of the weekend is self-guided, which is necessary, but Tina scaffolds you before each experience. She gave us general topics to discuss during informal meals, and guiding principals to keep in mind before moving through the museum and memorial, in addition to leading reflections afterwards. For me, her guidance deepened my time and made each portion of the weekend more impactful. Also, I really appreciate the thoughtfully curated pre and post work. I felt much more prepared for the trip because of it and am so grateful that there are resources to help integrate the work and continue connecting with others afterwards. Thank you so much for this opportunity!

What a transformational experience. Thank you Tina for guiding us through such a thoughtfully planned and executed Legacy Trip. The museum and memorial were eye opening and walking over the bridge in Selma crystalized for me how I can make personal changes to be a better ancestor. And I now have bigger network of women who will hold me accountable to making these changes. Words don't do it justice - THANK YOU!!

Wow, what an incredibly well organized trip! The accommodations were great, the meals were delicious, the workshops were AMAZING, and the tours of the Legacy Museum, the Memorial for Peace & Justice, and the walk across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, were all phenomenal experiences and I am forever changed!

This is my second Legacy Trip so I came to this already knowing the quality of experience that Legacy Trips provide. When I tell you that this trip blew me out of the water I am not exaggerating. I had been wanting to do plant medicine for a few years but was really concerned about the safety of the space and the care that would be provided while in the medicine. La Vida Divine is an outstanding organization with thoughtful and caring facilitators. I trusted Legacy Trips before I met La Vida Divine and feel that the relationship between Legacy Trips and La Vida Divine is a most perfect union. I highly recommend this trip if you are looking to do a plant medicine journey and are serious about being intentional and thoughtful about your experience. Love Tina, Goddess Jhoselyn and Gaddy, forever my favorites!
