Make new friends on and off the field as you experience the beauty of Africa while using soccer to help orphans and vulnerable children.
The Kingdom of Lesotho is a tiny but beautiful country hidden high in the mountains above South Africa which boasts a rich cultural heritage and dramatic scenery, including some of the highest waterfalls in the world. A hidden gem, Lesotho is quietly developing a reputation as a destination for adventure tourists thanks to its stunning scenery and activities like hiking, pony-trekking and even skiing. You’ll experience the rich history of this proud nation with lessons in language and customs, and visits to sacred cultural sites.
Football is a religion all over Africa and Lesotho is no exception. You’ll experience this first-hand, whether attending a Premier League game with local team Kick4Life F.C. or playing pickup games with local kids. You’ll also get to play at the FIFA Football for Hope Center, constructed as a legacy from the 2010 FIFA World Cup and now a thriving hub in the capital city Maseru and home to numerous social programs for local youth.
Your trip will support the inspirational work of Kick4life, a non-profit organisation that uses soccer to improve the lives of underserved youth living in Maseru.
Lesotho is one of the poorest countries in the world and suffers from one of the highest HIV/Aids infection rates on the planet. Almost 25% of the population is HIV positive and over 130,000 children have been orphaned by the disease, which has had a devastating impact on family and community structures and held back the nation’s economic development.
Since 2005, Kick4Life has reached more than 250,000 children and young people through a wide range of activities from health education & HIV testing to literacy, mentoring and support towards long-term education & employment. You'll get hands-on with the Kick4Life coaches as they bring hope and brighter prospects to a new generation of Basotho youth.
