Not only is this little village breathtaking with its whitewashed midieval characteristics,  it's quite known for olive oil. We will take in some local sites, try some of the best oil and lunch at a top spot in the town.

This little town is known for its collection of Trulli whitewashed stone huts that are a must to see when in this region. The Trulli is a traditional dry stone hut that dates back to the mid 14th century. They were originally constructed for temporary field houses for agricultural laborers. The pictures alone are worth the visit- But, almonds, oil, cheese & wine are known in this area and we will experience all of that while we make our way through this quaint town and cook!

Lecce is just a must. Why? Because it's an incredible historical city that has so many sites to see,  but it's also known for its "Cucina Povera", which translates to "poor cuisine", and it's absolutely delicious.  It's tasty cuisine from rural families that cook seasonally using only what's from the farm at that time. The local dishes have made their way to local restaurants and you have to experience it and the beautiful history of Lecce.

This town should have written the playbook for Mediterranean Diet.  A good glass of wine, local seafood, rich olive oils, grains. The women here would turn the local seafood bits that were harder to sell into fabulous creations known as  "Merosche", which simply translates to "concoction". They also have a meat sauce called "Manzu", made with 7 different meats! So many great culinary dishes in this little fishing village that are "must haves"!

When in Puglia, why not cook with one of the best local Chefs who grew up on a local farm in the region learning about all the treasures that were found on the land and creating along the way. This will be a perfect lesson after our few days of exploring Puglia and the delicious food finds you learned about during the week!
