About this trip

Students will reinforce what they have learned about US History while they travel for 6 days and 5 nights to  Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Gettysburg, and Hershey Park.  It's a trip of a lifetime as they experience Arlington Cemetery, the Lincoln Memorial, Independence Hall, Gettysburg Military Park and so much more.

We celebrate the end of the trip by having a blast at the award winning Hershey Park.

Transportation

All transportation requirements from the pick up location and back again.

Night time security

Security at the hotel is included.

All tips and gratuities

Students won't have to worry about tipping servers, drivers, etc..

We stay at 3-4 star hotels.

Bottled Water

It's important to stay hydrated so we supply an abundance of water.

Monday, May 29

5:30 a.m. Meet at Sonrise Church, 10125 Illinois Rd, Fort Wayne, IN 46804.

6:00 a.m.  Depart Fort Wayne, IN for Williamsburg, Va

Group decides when and where to stop for lunch & dinner (both on your own)

7:00 p.m. Arrive in Williamsburg, Va

Hotel  Great Wolf Lodge, Williamsburg  549 E Rochambeau Dr, Williamsburg, VA · 

7:00 p.m. Swim time, pool is open until 8:00.

Day 2

Jamestown & Colonial Williamsburg

 

 Tuesday, May 30

7:00 a.m. Breakfast

8:00 a.m. Depart for Historic Jamestown 1368 Colonial Pkwy, Jamestown, VA 23081

9:00 a.m. Jamestown Settlement

  • Discover the history of America’s beginnings in Jamestown.  History brought back to life.

11:15 a.m. Lunch at historic jamestown 

11:45 a.m. Depart for Colonial Williamsburg :

  • Governor's Palace
    • Experience the grandeur of royal authority in Virginia just before its collapse in the Revolution. The Governor's Palace, home to seven royal governors and the first two elected governors in Virginia, was built to impress visitors with a display of authority and wealth.
  • Capitol
    • Walk the halls where the colony's representatives struggled with the British governor over the meaning of American liberty. Rediscover the founding principles of our government and your rights and responsibilities as citizens of a new republic.
  • Several other historical shops within this colonial town.

5:00 p.m. Depart for the Great Wolf Lodge

Swim time until 7:00 p.m.

7:00 p.m. Dinner (Taco Bar)  in the breakfast room from 7:00 until 8:00.

8:00 p.m. Ole Bess - Professional Storyteller brings history alive with an entertaining story from

Williamsburg.  You’ll laugh, cry and have a great time.

Day 3

Home of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and the White House

 

  

Wednesday, May 31

7:00  Breakfast

8:00  Depart for the home of Thomas Jefferson, Monticello, Va

10:00 Arrival time (timed arrival time of 10:10 (must be on time)

10:55 Monticello highlights tour starts

Tour on your own after the 45 minute house tour.

Options:  slavery tour, garden tour, also can tour the grounds on your own

1:00  Pick up boxed lunch from Monticello Farm Table

1:30  Depart for Washington, D.C.

4:30 White House Picture Stop

5:30 Dinner at Reagan International Trade Center (on your own)

6:30 Memorial Tour

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial
  • Jefferson Memorial
  • FDR Memorial

8:00 Depart for the hotel:  Fairfield Inn  Hotel address 13700 Baltimore Avenue, Laurel, Maryland 20707

  • Mansion Tour
  • Grounds Tour
  • Educational Museum

10:30 am Depart for the Capitol Building

  • Group Picture
  • Lunch: Capitol Visitors Center Cafe (on your own)
  • Guided Capitol Tour (12:40 tickets)

2:15 am Depart for Arlington National Cemetery

  • Includes the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
  • Kennedy Gravesites
  • Lee House
  • Amphitheater
  • Among others

5:00  Dinner (on your own) at the Pentagon Fashion City Mall

  • Memorial Tour:  Lincoln, Vietnam and Korean Memorials

7:00 a.m. Breakfast

8:00 a.m. Depart for Philadelphia

10:30 a.m. Bus drops off at Independence Hall Visitors Center 

(Walking day, we won’t see the bus again until after dinner.)

11:00 a.m. Liberty Bell Exhibit

12:00 p.m. Lunch at the Bourse (on your own)

1:10 p.m. Independence hall (1:40 tickets - must be 30 minutes early)

2:30 p.m. Constitution Center

4:30 p.m. Betsy Ross House

5:15 p.m Double Decker Bus Ride

6:45 p.m. Dinner at Philly Gourmet Steak Co.

7:45 p.m. Depart for our Harrisburg Hotel:  Hampton Inn:  4230 Union Deposit Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111

Gettysburg National Military Park and Hershey Park

 

  

Saturday, June 3

7:00 a.m. Breakfast

8:00 a.m. Depart for Gettysburg National Military Park

  • Fields of Freedom 9:30 show
  • Cyclorama
  • Battlefield Tour begins at 11:00 

1:00 p.m. Pick up boxed lunch and depart for Hershey park

Hershey Park - (dinner or snacks at the park on your own - pizza at the hotel provided)

8:00 p.m. Park closes at 8:00, meet at Chocolate World and depart for the hotel.

Lunch at the oasis (on your own)

7:00 p.m. Arrive home in Fort Wayne, IN
