About this trip

Enjoy a unique experience with an encounter with the largest reptile in the Amazon, the black caiman (melanosuchus niger). According to myths and legend, the black caiman is said to reach the length of 6 meters long. Limoncocha is 1.5 hours down the Napo River from Coca in the Sucumbíos Province. Limoncocha is a great place to see not only the black caiman, but other wildlife such as birds, monkeys, and other creatures that visit the lagoon.

Day 1

We’ll depart from the port of Coca at 09:00 am by river transport to the Kichwa community to learn about their ancestral customs and partake in typical lunch of "Maitos de pescado" (fish steamed in banana leaves).

Our excursion continues down the great Napo River until we arrive at the port of Pompeii where we will take land transport to the Biological Reserve of Limoncocha. Here we will have a spectacular time navigating the lagoon by canoe and enjoying the wondrous sounds of the nature and wildlife watching for animals such as snail hawks, hoatzin, kingfishers, and mammals such as squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, and more.

We will enjoy a spectacular sunset over the lagoon (so down forget your camera) and learn more about this charming place within the Amazon jungle. Once the sun has set, we try our luck at caiman spotting as they are more active at night. Afterward, we will return to the city of by car and arrive back by 9:00 pm.

The nature is amazing but unfortunatly the guide was a waste of money and time. He was unmotivated, didnt tell us or inform us at all about the nature, amazon, animals or anthing. The only animals we got to see were parrots. In total during the 2 Days trip we walked like max 1h. It was more a chill at the lodge and drive bit around with the boat experience. I would not recommend this agency but definitly a trip to the amazon.

It was a wonderful trip. Mauro was an excellent guide and the food was delicious.

We had a great time on our 5 day Yasuni tour and were able to see many bird species, some monkeys and even a sloth, plus enjoy cultural experiences. We had an enthusiastic and competent guide and skilled boat driver. We were well looked after for food and our accommodation was comfortable. We shared the trip with 3 other Spanish speakers but our guide ensured we had English translations. We appreciated an airport pickup and drop off. The company was well organised. Many thanks to all.
