About this trip

◐ Bienvenidos!

Remove yourself from the routine of everyday life. Experience the joy of slow-paced travel. Stay curious on the path toward your rooted center. Embrace your wild spirit, let loose, dive into practice and enjoy the most nourishing and colorful food Nayarit has to offer! Allow yourself this moment to co-create while exercising the power of reciprocity through the gift of listening and collective collaboration.  You will return home shining so bright and with so much inspiration that your communities will illuminate!⁣

Spend 7 nights with an entire beachfront resort all to ourselves as we discover our true nature through land connection and community in San Pancho, Nayarit. From the Mexican-owned eco-boutique hotel to the locally-partnered and custom-made experiences, this conscious retreat is designed specifically for you.

We invite you to move your body through yoga and hiking, to feel the benefits of a healthy traditional cuisine, to learn and explore with the locals, to sit together in ceremony, to disfrutar (enjoy), and show thanks for life on Earth!

⫸YOGA

Rather than teaching yoga ourselves or bringing a foreign yoga instructor, we have partnered with local Mexican yoga instructor, Analé Judd. She is highly regarded in the San Pancho community for her incredible heart and spirit, as well as her inclusive and warm teaching approach with yoga. We will also take a drop-in class at the local studio El Estar to experience and support their studio and teachers.  ALL BODIES AND LEVELS WELCOME!

⫸JUNGLE, MEDITATION + SWIM

Morning walk to the Buddha Viewing deck with a local birding expert, where we will participate in a sound journey with birds singing and Tibetan sound bowls. We will learn about the land, the biosphere, and the future of conservation in the area.

Afterwards, we will enjoy a picnic and a mineral clay bath on one of Nayarit's most beautiful natural beaches.

⫸TRADITIONAL TEMAZCAL + CLAYS OF NAYARIT

Temazcal ceremony and clay workshop with clays of the Earth at the Sibuya local jungle community. We will dig out 4 different clays from Earth and learn about other uses, including building materials for sustainable housing. We also make our own clay ceramic pieces! After, we will change into bathing suits and be guided through the 4 gates in the clay sweat lodge, where we will give thanks to the Earth.  This Traditional Temazcal is steeped in Mexican traditions with Marciano, the ceremony master, and Temazcelero. The temazcal represents the belly button of the Earth and the rebirth of the participants.

Rituals include prayers, chanting, and throwing tobacco on the stones to set intentions for areas of focus and improvement in your life.

⫸ WIXÁRIKA CIRCLE

Local indigenous Wixarika/Huichol elders join us around the fire while we learn about Wixárika Symbolism, art, culture, food, and more. We go deep into Respect, communities, connection with mother earth, honoring ancestors, and identity. Our circle will be in the jungle with a shared dinner.

⫸ SURPRISE EXPERIENCE

This one-of-a-kind experience is so memorable we have chosen to keep it a secret.

Hint: Your chakras will illuminate with wonder!

⫸ LOCAL NON-PROFIT PARTNERSHIP

As Muhammad Ali said, "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth." Service is an often lost yet fundamental and necessary element of responsible travel when practiced respectfully. We are partnering with an organization called Entreamigos to give back and give thanks to the community of San Pancho for welcoming us.

Entreamigos is a community center that provides educational opportunities to local children and families in San Pancho. Its mission is to increase learning opportunities for children and families through implementing educational programs based on principles of community integration and collective action. We will take a tour and learn about Entreamigos while putting our hands to work, helping on a project they choose.

⫸JOURNALING

Throughout this retreat, we will cultivate a journal practice with thoughtful writing prompts and exercises. There will be relaxed opportunities to share your writing when/if you feel called. Pack a good pen and your favorite journal!

⫸WHY A RESPONSIBLE RETREAT?

This conscious retreat was designed with Respect for our host community. Tourism is a dominant economic force for many cities + countries worldwide. Our responsibility as global citizens is to ensure that our reverence is deeply and monetarily felt in our host communities. Through careful planning, our retreats keep the local residents at the forefront by directly supporting their economy, culture, and environment. We chose to partner with Hotel Maraica as it is Mexican-owned, supports green initiatives, and collaborates closely with local businesses and community organizations. The hotel is intentionally designed to exist sustainably and in harmony with its surroundings. That being said, the rooms have no A/C, TV, or WiFi. There will be WiFi in the common areas. However, connectivity may be unpredictable and, at times, unavailable. We are in the jungle, after all! Our experience faithfully embodies the practice of disconnecting and removing distractions to allow the space for reconnecting with your truest form: in mind, body, and spirit. Together we can help preserve the magic that draws us to the lands of Mexico! Read more about LOBA LOBA here!

⇻ COVID-19 ⇺

Through conscious action, we must stay committed to reducing the burden of COVID-19 in Mexico. The economy of Mexico relies greatly on tourism and retreats such as ours, so we must do our part by respecting their policies and taking into consideration our own self-care before and during our travels. Take great care of yourself two weeks prior to the retreat, practice intentional hygiene and self-care. If you are infected with COVID-19, exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19, or know that you have been exposed to COVID-19 please DO NOT attend this trip. We do not give refunds due to COVID or COVID related restrictions, this is why finding the right travel insurance is so important.
