On your first day, we ask guests to arrive around 5pm if they can and join us for a glass of local sparkling wine and canapes.

Around 7pm we will commence a 4 course evening meal and our signature blind tasting event.

On your second day with us, we will have the following programme:

Breakfast at la Maison trumeau

Brief history and further background to local wines and winemaking in this region

Around 10am, leave for our 1st Wine Domaine visit. Estimated return time of 12:30pm for lunch.

In the afternoon we will take you to the 2nd and 3rd Domaine visits for the retreat, allowing plenty of time to chat with the winemaker, visit the premises, caves and explore the terroir. Our winery visits aim to showcase the diversity and innovation in the region, offering you a broader insight to the dynamics that make's this region an intriguing place to be a winemaker.

Evening meal will be at 7.30pm in the first of our first of Saumur's top restaurant.

On your third day with us, we will have the following programme:

Breakfast at La Maison Trumeau
We will take you to Chinon, a beautiful historic town 30mins from Saumur. We will attend the annual wine event, where over 100 winemakers from the Chinon appellation present their wines for tasting. This is a great opportunity to explore another wine appellation outside of Saumur, giving you an experience of two internationally renowned wine regions in the Loire Valley.

Lunch will be in a local restaurant in Chinon.
Spend the afternoon exploring the sights of Chinon, visit the infamous Fortress de Chinon, take a walk through the historic cobbled streets of Chinon, rest beside the river Vienne or continue exploring wines from Chinon at the exhibition.

Saturday night's restaurant will be booked for 7.30pm in one of Saumur's top restaurant locations

After breakfast, on the day of your departure day, you have flexibility to enjoy the local sights or use the morning to relax and take it easy in our home.

We highly recommend taking in the sights of a flea market/brocante, which are held most Sundays. On this date it will be held in Saumur and less than 10 minute walk from our house. If you would like to attend the market for a browse and see the location we will happily take you there, help you negotiate purchases and browse the numerous treasures on offer (in French they call it 'Le Flâneur', meaning to stroll, wander, saunter).. We can help you with other suggestions for your Sunday 'Flâneur'

Loire Spring Retreat

Day 1 - Thursday

We’ve done several European wine tours with our friends but the “wine retreat” hosted by Mandy and Willo was easily the most enjoyable and intense tour we’ve done. As hosts, they had arranged a packed agenda for our time with them and couldn’t do enough to make our experience both first-rate and stress-free. We tasted a huge ranges of wines at the house, at the various wineries visited and at carefully selected local venues. In addition, the food prepared and presented by Mandy was amazing. We have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending the whole experience.

This was such a nice experience. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn how to do something new. We bought a couple of old chairs at a brocante that needed new upholstery. They now look fantastic thanks to our expert instructor and a little bit of work on our part. If you have a family heirloom that needs to be updated or repaired, it means so much more if you do it yourself with the help of this course. As a bonus, the food and wine during the course was top quality. Everything was delicious and served so elegantly and even the vegetarian in our group was quite happy! This retreat was perfect! Our teacher was knowledgeable and patient. We all had different projects and she moved from one to another giving help where needed. Mandy, our hostess served us delicious breakfast and lunch each day on a beautifully set table. My room made me feel like a princess! Although the entire house is gorgeous you can feel that it is a home, and you are welcome there. I would do this retreat again in a heartbeat!
