Discover one of El Chaltén’s finest panoramic viewpoints on a demanding full-day trek guided by our local mountain team.
The day begins in El Chaltén before entering the peaceful lenga forests that cover the lower slopes of Loma de las Pizarras. As we gain elevation, the forest gradually gives way to rocky terrain and open ridges, revealing wider views of the valleys and glaciers below.
At approximately 1,700 metres, Loma de las Pizarras becomes a natural balcony overlooking Mount Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, the surrounding glaciers and the Patagonian wilderness. We take time at the viewpoint to rest, enjoy lunch and experience the landscape before descending along the same trail to El Chaltén.
This is a 23 km mountain day with approximately 1,250 metres of elevation gain and an estimated duration of 10–12 hours. Good physical fitness and previous hiking experience are strongly recommended.
