About this trip

Where style meets nature, and where breathing meets movement...

Escape the city to immerse yourself in nature, nourish your body with fresh food and energizing and restorative yoga, explore mindfulness meditation, make connections with like-minded people, have a few laughs, all while staying in countryside luxury with sweeping views of the Catskill Mountains.

In addition to three delicious organic meals a day, six yoga classes, a pose workshop and a meditation workshop, you'll have the opportunity to pamper yourself with a world class massage,  explore the gorgeous hiking trails in and around the property, or just chill out with new friends and visit with farm animals who call this special place home.

The Place - The Kaaterskill Inn:

With sweeping views of the Catskill Mountains and over 32 acres of breathtaking scenery, the Kaaterskill Inn is a retreat like no other.

Blessed with charm and good looks, this magnificent property boasts the best of what the Catskills has to offer: spectacular mountain vistas, acres of wooded and pastoral land, beautiful foot paths that wind along lazy rivers, age-old trees and more wildlife than a night out in Manhattan! Explore the grounds to see the landscapes and natural ecology that inspired the local Hudson River School artists.

The main guest house, a magnificent restored Dutch barn, houses the property’s luxury guest suites. But don’t let the countrified surrounds fool you: These rooms were designed with the contemporary traveler in mind. Modern luxuries abound, from jacuzzi bathtubs and spacious quarters, to in-suite fireplaces and private patios.

Secluded and unforgettable, the Kaaterskill is your connection to nature…at its most luxurious.

The Yoga:

You will be practicing with two talented teachers, one based in New York City and one based in Toronto, both with similar philosophies, yet different teaching styles. Both Mary and Kathy share one focus for this long weekend: how can they help each guest learn, grow, relax and feel connected on this retreat!

The vinyasa flow classes will have strong, creative sequencing designed to lengthen, strengthen and open up your body. The restorative and yin classes, will begin with a warming flow to prepare your body for deeper stretches (yin) and deep release and relaxation (restorative).

All classes will be set to inspiring music, have gentle hands on assists and adjustments and conclude with an aromatherapy savasana massage (bliss!).

The classes are suitable for all levels of yogi's and will include lots of variations.

You can find out more about each teacher by reading their biography's in the profile section and you can also visit their websites:

The Food:

We take food very seriously! It’s not just the act of nourishment, but the source of energy. The primarily pescatarian menu, is locally inspired and has been designed to provide organic, fresh foods to nourish the body and soul.

Kathy & Mary Parsons / Horne
Kathy Parsons For more than a decade, certified Yoga teacher (RYT-200), Kathy, has been journeying around the world to many health retreats. From Yoga and fitness to breath work and moving meditation, she's harvested a wealth of knowledge during her time and commitment spent at retreats. Kathy rightfully professes herself as a "retreat addict" (and a type-A in recovery) and is now dedicated to providing the ultimate energizing and balanced yoga and retreat experience for others. Her specialty is vinyasa flow, and her classes incorporate creative movements that strengthen and lengthen the body while staying connected to the breath. She also teaches pranayama (breathing exercises), moving meditation, restorative and yin yoga and mindfulness. Classes are tailored to the students with as much personalized attention as possible, including gentle hands-on adjustments and assists, inspirational music and a scented savasana massage. “My philosophy is to provide the space for each student to connect with their mind, body and soul so they finish class feeling simultaneously lighter and more grounded. I encourage students to push themselves to their personal limits, while not taking themselves too seriously. Smiling and laugher is welcome!” Kathy’s home base is in Toronto, and when she is not leading retreats in Cuba and New York she is teaching yoga and meditation and fundraising for healthcare and educational institutions. For her schedule in Toronto, please visit www.retreatinsider.net/Toronto "I've practiced various styles of yoga for about 13 years, but Kathy is the first teacher who ever made yoga personal for me. For the first time, I experienced the connection of mind, body, breath, and spirit, and it changed the way I view yoga forever. Kathy is so much fun, funny, and friendly in class, and at the same time, teaches in a very loving way". Elizabeth, NYC Mary Horne Mary Horne is a 200hr Vinyasa RYT and certified personal trainer.
