I am oh so elated to announce that I am hosting a yoga retreat at what I’ve come to call “my jungle home” from January 23-30, 2021. Tierra de Sueños on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica has been quite literally a land of dreams for me the last two winters, and having the opportunity to share this place with others is an honor. Completely encompassed by luscious jungle greens, this retreat center is a place for healing and rejuvenating your body and spirit. This particular retreat will include: daily yoga in a covered, outdoor shala where the howling of monkeys is the only music we’ll need; 3 abundant daily meals to fuel your body with goodness; a waterfall hike; cacao ceremony; daily walks or bike-rides to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world (one of which is only steps from the retreat center); a journaling workshop; multiple other activities to choose from. 

The title “Let the Heart Guide” came to me when I was reflecting upon the impact these jungles had on me. The heart chakra, or “Anahata” in Sanskrit, is associated with the color green and the element air, so immersing yourself in a sea of emerald green and the freshest air imaginable will naturally begin to stimulate the expansion of your heart. During this week, I will focus on how the natural beauty of nature is a reflection of the infinite source of love that dwells within the cave of your heart-space. Like air, love is within and all around us; Sometimes we simply need to drop down from our minds and move more from the heart.

Here is an entry from my journal during the time I was at Tierra de Suenos in 2020: “I was talking with one of the yoga teachers I work with about how the heart is the center of our energy channels. The heart chakra is where our love, joy, warmth, and compassion dwells..

With emerald all around and above me, I feel like I’m living in the heart center of the world. The other night, I sat on the porch of one of the jungle decks, listened to the rain falling on the bamboo roof, and tears just started streaming down my face. Cleansed. Nourished. Soulful.”
