Your day begins with a pickup from your Entebbe hotel setting off for a scenic drive through urban landscapes to the shores of Lake Victoria. From there transfer by boat to the Mabamba Bay Wetlands.
Upon arrival, your expert birding guide and local canoe specialist lead you through winding papyrus channels aboard a traditional wooden canoe. This peaceful glide across the wetland is one of Uganda's most magical birding moments.
The highlight is, of course, the Shoebill Stork—often standing motionless, waiting for lungfish. With patience and a bit of luck, you may watch it hunt, preen, or soar overhead.
Additional Birds You May Spot:
African Jacana, Malachite Kingfisher, Papyrus Gonolek, African Fish Eagle, Pied Kingfisher, Long-toed Lapwing, Goliath Heron, Blue-breasted Bee-eater, and more.
After 2–3 hours on the wetland, you return to the landing and begin the drive back to Entebbe. Guests who wish to continue birding may add a stop at the Botanical Gardens in Entebbe.
