The name of my tour guide for my 4-day experience in the Amazon is Bastion. He was WONDERFUL. He went out of his way to take me and my tour group to areas where we’d see the best wildlife, that were not always the most commonly traveled areas. We took a less-traveled route on our Jungle night walk, and saw some interesting nightlife. On my final day, he took me to a creek off of the main river to go Piranha fishing, and I caught one! Bastion makes sure you have a real, immersive Jungle experience. I had a great time!

Lo guay es que conoces gente, pero las actividades están muy controlada de tiempo y alomejor coges y tiras el dinero porque no ves nada. Te dejan mucho tiempo libre pero al final lo único q puedes hacer es quedarte en el sitio donde duermes y encima en la zona común que es la única q tiene wifi y al final te incita a gastar dinero en bebida y comida. Creo que es más recomendable buscarte un alojamiento y buscarte activo sueltas

Our French guide was very very kind and very interesting. The organization is good, the food is very basic like accommodation. We had sole problems with the toilets and the room wasn’t very clean

We had a great time, and our guide Sergio was amazing. He shared many fascinating facts about the forest during our walk inside. However, my friends and I would have appreciated spending more time in the forest rather than doing activities like ziplining or kayaking. It felt as though those activities were included just to fill some gaps, while the forest itself had so much more to offer. The food was excellent, and the lodge, though minimal, was very comfortable considering it was in the middle of the forest.

This tour is highly recommended! Before our trip, any questions we had were answered incredibly quickly. On site, everything was perfectly organized—from the pickup to the drop-off at the airport. Everyone was friendly and happy to accommodate individual wishes.

The food was delicious (just a little bit less). There were plenty of options for jungle adventures as well as time to relax. If you prefer to skip a particular excursion, you can simply stay in the lounge. Our room was clean and also free of insects.

The entire experience felt very animal-friendly and respectful of nature, so of course there’s no guarantee you’ll spot every species. But the guides are exceptionally skilled and quick to point out even the most hidden creatures.

All in all, it was a truly beautiful experience—thank you so much!

I had a wonderful time. Sergio is a fantastic guide. Food was perfect, the lodge is located in a calm and wild place. Activities were very exciting. 

We really enjoyed our trip. The transfer from and to the airport was well organized, we were even able to store some extra luggage at their office in town. Upon arrival at the lodge we got food and the plan for the trips was always clear and well communicated. The accommodation is simple but serves all purposes and food is yummy and enough. We were taken care of with special needs for vegetarians. 
Our guide Sergio was very lovely and kind and knowledgeable. Most we like the Night Walk where we saw many spiders and other animals. Our guide even asked us to turn off the lights which left us realizing how awake the jungle is at night as we used all other senses much more. What an adventure. 
I was traveling with kids who felt safe and takes care of at all times. 
We enjoyed our tour from beginning to end and wished we could have stayed longer. 
When the trip to Lake Sandoval in the early morning had to be cancelled we were given clear instructions how the plan would be adapted and we went later which was an experience nevertheless. So this tour is highly recommendable. 

We had a great time. Tasty Food, wonderful accomodation. Friendly guides. We saw caimanes, parrots, monkeys and amazing jungle trees. Thanks to the experienced biological guide, we learned a lot about jungle trees and insects. It is a bit a pitty that we didn't see snakes, no capybaras, no monkeys on the monkey island.

10/10 was a highlight of my travelling. The value for money is great with all meals included (good healthy food with decent portion sizes), activities (such as boat tours, meeting indeginous community, monkey island etc...) and lodging. The guides were also fantasic and very knowledgeable - you can tell they love their jobs!

Great experience and felt super safe and supported by the shaman. If you feel ready I would 100% recommend.

Retreat 2 days 1 night

Las excursiones están bien pero hay mucha desorganización.
La comida es lamentable, siempre arroz.
En las habitaciones se escucha todo del de al lado.
Pasamos unos días agradables pero hay detalles q deben mejorar

Our family of five had a wonderful experience and would definitely choose this company again. The food was delicious, varied, and plentiful. The activities were well organized and the tour guides were excellent—knowledgeable, passionate, funny, and caring. We were told at each meal what we were doing next  and what to bring. Abel, the owner, was very helpful and a quick communicator, even allowing flexibility in the schedule to accommodate our preference of activities. The accommodations were modest, but comfortable. The value was exceptional and we would highly recommend this tour company!

Sandoval lake 4 days 3 nights

CAUTION: Management scams and threatens to kick you out in the middle of the night if you contest. Would recommend booking another place.

Location: 5/5. Poor facilities but amazing wild life at the lodge.

We stayed for 2 days 2 nights and booked several tours.
- Tours were changed without our consent (e.g. lake Yacumama was replaced with a random river nearby)
- Tours were shortened (e.g. full day to half day)
- Equipment was missing (e.g. single rod for private fishing tour for 2)
- We were tricked into booking expensive private tours that we did not need (otherwise they said we would miss our flight - but they were plenty of group tours that arrived and left before our private tour)
- They refused to organize some tours, telling us it was impossible - we were able to do it ourselves in 15min

IMPORTANT: When we contested and asked management for a partial refund they threatened to kick off my wife and I in the middle of the night and to last minute cancel the remaining tours we had booked 2+ months ago.

Rooms
Poor facilities, tons of bugs in the bed, but it's understanding in the jungle.

Nearby activities
Activities are good but you cannot trust management to respect their side of the agreement, and they demand upfront payment for the whole thing.

Safety
Very low, management will threaten to kick you out of the lodge in the middle of the night if you push back or inquire about the unexpected changes in your itinerary.

Noteworthy details
We chatted with other guests who had similar experience with terrible organization and the dishonest management. Stay away if you can.

Iba a pasar allí solo una noche y dos días y al final me quedé una noche más, el entorno es maravilloso rodeado de naturaleza, pero sobre todo las personas que allí trabajan hacen que la estancia sea de lo más agradable. We had a fantastic experience. Very well co ordinated trip as we got down at the airport, we were picked up by the team and we were dropped off at the airport 3 days later with memorable experience as a family. Good hospitality and all the activities were excellent. Thanks to all the team members

Nuestro guía Santos nos acompañó durante los tres días que duró el tour contratado. Es una excelente persona. Sobre el albergue, tenía una sala común muy bien equipada donde trabamos amistad con otros visitantes. Allí se podía cargar los aparatos electrónicos.
Las comidas estaban bien. Correctas y ricas.
Las habitaciones eran amplias y austeras, reforzando más la experiencia de estar en medio de la jungla.
Se nos metieron hormigas debido a la electricidad y enseguida nos ayudaron a resolver el problema desde recepción y nos explicaron qué hacer para que no volviese a ocurrir.
En general todo el personal fue extremadamente amable con nosotros.
Nos guardaron un medicamento en su nevera de la cocina.

Not well organized.  Accommodation so, so and food - lets just say i was cautious at what i ate.  I did not find the management helpful or willing to accommodate a simple request.  I have been in the tourism industry for over 40 years was quite disappointed with this lodge.  Several parts of the itinerary did not occur - insect/spider evening search, follow up with Shaman after Ayahuasca experience (even though i requested it twice) - was told i had to pay for lunch and had to prove that it was included in my itinerary - daily schedules were slow, guides didn't seem to know what was scheduled daily - very disorganized. 

Tambopata 3 days - deposit

No nos gustó nada. Las actividades del tour no estaban bien organizadas, improvisando todo el tiempo los horarios, el Lodge estaba totalmente descuidado, viejo y con falta de limpieza, la comida era escasa, el buffet se acababa y no ponían más comida, de manera que nos quedamos a medias de desayunar y se cenar en dos ocasiones. No tenían toallas secas, no dieron toallas mojadas. La excursión al Lago Sandoval fue al medio día, de forma que casi morimos de calor (otros tours los hacen al atardecer o a primera hora de la mañana). Un desastre total, no lo recomiendo en absoluto 

The guides made us feel at ease during the different activities so that we could enjoy the surroundings. They checked in on my partner who had gotten sick during the trip. Be sure to ask when the next activity is scheduled for as they do not tell you until the previous activity ends. Transportation from the airport to the lodge worked out well.

The people at the lodge were also wonderful, both the guests and the staff. We ate together, and they make sure you don’t miss a meal. Staff go out of their way to provide a great experience and the location is beautiful, in the heart of the jungle. 

This was a waste of time. We chose the discover tambopata 3 days and 2 nights.
Our guide Antonio, was falling asleep everyday in the boat. We didn't see that many animals other than a couple of monkeys and some birds. The food was not Peru standards at all. They give you a lot of rice and a small piece of chicken. Almost no vegetables or fruits.
The only good thing was the lodge where we slept in. I think there are better choices.

This was such a good trip!! We did 4 days 3 nights and a night for ayahuasca and it was just all amazing. Shout out to octavio and Sergio who were amazing guides in each of their specialities. food was amazing, the space was simple but lovely and wow the Amazon is just incredible! Such a good price for everything you get included. Would recommend 100/100!

We had a wonderful stay!!!The lake Sandoval stay was so worth it. We saw variety of life, monkeys was having their feast right outside our window! Roberto is a great cook, every meal was wonderful. Santos is a great guide, we learned a lot about jungle life. We were picked up at the airport and dropped off at the hotel. Everything went smooth. Highly recommend!!!

It was incredible, everything was good, the food was plentiful and good overall, we were able to see a great variety of animals in their habitat, and the staff in general was friendly.

My partner and I did a two-night, three-day tour, and it was really good.  First, they picked us up from the bus station at 6:30 AM, which was amazing.

We are both vegan, and the food was surprisingly good, although breakfast was less so—only chips, avocado, and a small banana cake slice.  Dinners were good, considering we were in the jungle. A lovely beans/veggies/rice dish/soya protein/lentils/ etc, make sure to bring snacks, as I'm extremely glad we did. 

The tour itself was great. We were lucky enough to see a few caimans, capybaras, a sloth, a few tortoises, and some monkeys.

The only downside was the room lacked a fan or ventilation, making it extremely hot and difficult to sleep.  Also, there was an extra 50 soles fee to visit the park next to the lodge, which, in my opinion, wasn't worth it and should have been included. I wish I had opted out of that.

But for the price of the tour (160 USD, not including the park fee), it was great.

We would recommend it to fellow backpackers.

The tour was totally worth the price, it's way cheaper than jungle tours in Iquitos and you still get a brief concept of how the amazon jungle feels like. I had to take the only flight back to Liam at 5pm, so I had to give up one activity (the monkey shelter), but luckily it feels like the least attractive activity lol.
During the 3 days I saw wild monkeys, sloths, tarantulas, caimans, capybaras, snakes, Macaos and more. It was really cool!! Some of the activities weren't that fun though, such as the canopy bridge, kayaking. The rest of the activities were really cool!!
The stay at the eco lodge was nice and chill, you have plenty of time to just chill and relax at the lodge. It's not a fancy place, but good enough. The staff was really friendly too, I even played volley ball with them haha.

Ayahuasca: A Journey Beyond Time and Self
As the first cup of ayahuasca settled in, the vibrations of the jungle came alive, merging with the rhythmic chants of the shaman. The sounds weren’t just external; they resonated within me, weaving into the very fabric of my being. I was no longer separate from the world around me—I became the sound, the vibration, the energy.

With my eyes closed, reality dissolved. Time ceased to exist. My body felt weightless, as if I had been untethered from all earthly constraints. I floated, not just through space, but through something greater—an infinite, timeless existence. It was not a dream nor a hallucination, but a state more real than anything I had ever known.

Visions emerged. A snake slithered through the cosmic abyss, its movements fluid and wise, as if it had always known the secrets of the universe. It did not threaten; it guided. A tiger followed, its presence powerful, fearless, yet protective—a reminder of the strength I held within. And in the vastness of the unknown, a whale appeared, moving gracefully through a celestial ocean. It felt ancient, omniscient, as if carrying the wisdom of a thousand lifetimes.

There was no fear, no past traumas surfacing to be confronted. Instead, I surrendered. Every time a darker path beckoned, I realigned, remembering why I had come. To receive, not to resist. To let Mother Ayahuasca give me what I needed, not what I wanted.

The shaman’s voice was more than sound—it was magic, an energy that held me, protected me, and orchestrated the very rhythm of my experience. The icaro songs were not just melodies but portals, guiding me deeper into the unknown. Without them, I cannot imagine how my journey would have unfolded.

As the medicine took hold, my body waged its own battle. Waves of nausea, the urge to purge, the complete surrender of control over my body’s functions. I felt as if I could dissolve completely, yet I trusted the process. Even in discomfort, I was at peace.

Opening my eyes, I glimpsed the shaman moving through the room, his presence grounding and mystical. It felt as if he could read my thoughts, my emotions, my very state of being, knowing exactly where I was in the journey. Every motion, every sound, every phase of my experience felt planned, orchestrated—not by chance, but by some unseen cosmic intelligence.

The jungle outside was alive, not just in sound but in spirit. The frogs, the birds, the insects—they were not simply background noise but an essential part of the ceremony, each voice contributing to a grand, celestial symphony. The Amazon at night was pure magic.

As the ceremony neared its end, I felt a shift—a return to clarity, but not to the same reality I once knew. The world had changed. Or perhaps, I had changed. A deep sense of peace, tranquility, and interconnectedness settled within me. My perception of sound, time, and life itself would never be the same.

I no longer saw myself as just one being in a chaotic world. I was the world. I was life itself.

Now, as I return to the city, I carry this experience within me. The jungle still calls, and I know—I will return. Not just to visit, but to truly live.



Tuve la experiencia de quedarme 4 días y 3 noches. Honestamente pude desconectar totalmente durante ese tiempo a la par que disfrutaba mucho de las actividades divertidas y educativas. El personal en general me pareció muy amable, divertidos, resolutivos y se notaba que querían cuidarte, es decir, que no había ese trato de empleado‑cliente tan rígido y frío cosa que me encanta. La comida estaba riquísima y considero que el precio fue asequible con lo que proporcionaban (vehículo, bote hasta el lodge, comida incluida, tours...).
Personalmente me gustaría agradecer a Sergio quien fue el guía que nos acompañó a mí y a mis compañeros en esta pequeña aventura. Gracias por querer compartir tus lecciones a los demás sin miedo, por esas charlas y también gracias a todo el equipo por ser tan pacientes.
Doy por sentado que volveré de nuevo dentro de unos años.
