About this trip

Join us as we hike the 3 Northern Presidential mountains of the White Mountains. We will hit three 4K ft peaks, practice yoga each day, and stay in one of AMC's 100 year old full service huts!

Madison Spring hut sits above the treeline at the northern end of the Presidential Range and overlooks the sheer walls of Madison Gulf. Hike a moderate 3.8 miles to spectacular views of the Presidential, Kilkenny, and Pilot Ranges. For a closer-in feel, jog over to nearby Star Lake and marvel at the fragile alpine flora unique to this little corner of the world.

First built in 1888, Madison Spring Hut has been newly rebuilt and greets hikers with wide, open views and comfortable bunks. Its heritage as AMC’s first high mountain hut is honored by the fantastic croo that serves up hearty meals and offers helpful information about the surrounding trails, geology, and plant life.

No tent or camping equipment necessary. The huts offer hikers of all levels a fantastic entry point into backcountry travel. No camping experience required! Bunk bed accommodations allow you to leave your bulky sleeping bag at home. Enjoy in-season home-cooked breakfast and dinner, cold running water and composting or waterless toilets.

THREE PEAKS TWO DAYS:

We will be hiking an out and back loop. The first day we will summit Mount Madison and stay in the Madison Spring Hut. The next day we will wake up eat breakfast and summit Mount Adams & Jefferson to complete the loop that will bring us back to our accent down to the parking lot.

Before You Go

This is strenuous retreat that will test your limits while bringing you back in touch with nature. Please be prepared to hike on steep and rocky terrain while carrying a bag with snacks and layers that can weigh between 10-20 pounds. While we encourage hiking novices to sign up, you must be in good athletic shape and capable of continuous activity for at least four hours at a time. The yoga will be gentle and empowering. No need to hike a yoga mat into the mountains, but I do recommend bringing a towel. This retreat is on rain or shine, so bring your raincoat and pack quick dry (non cotton) materials.

Gear List:

40+liter Backpack ( I have two for rent)

The hike was challenging but absolutely worth the gorgeous views. The instructors were kind and understanding. A storm rolled in very quickly once we hit the summit. We all rushed down to escape it and had to skip the yoga on the mountain. While I completely understand that there is no way to control the weather I am disappointed in the company for not refunding us some of the money or reaching out to let us go on another trip for free or discounted. $70 was a lot to pay for a hike my friend and I could have done on our own for $5 each to park. I will not be joining this company again for any hiking/yoga experience because I feel like they do not value or respect their customers. Very sad about this trip.

What a great day ! Jen and Lauren were the best ! You won't go wrong if you head out with them.
We had an awesome time! Laura and Joel were fantastic guides. I'm new to hiking, but the pace and structure of the trip was perfect! Thanks again! Krissy

Laura and Joel were wonderful trip-leaders. The accommodations at the hut were nice, and the hikes were challenging with beautiful views. I would recommend a Backcountry Yoga trip to anyone.
