Sail through the Strait of Magellan to Los Pingüinos Natural Monument and discover the southern fauna
On the Navigation Magdalena Island, you will meet the Magellanic penguin, which measures between 50 and 70 cm, is an extraordinary swimmer and spends much of its life in the water. We can find it from Tierra del Fuego to the south of Brasil.
There are numerous colonies in Patagonia, highlighting among them the colony found on Magdalena Island. There, more than 150,000 specimens of these friendly penguins gather, which we will meet on our Navigation Magdalena Island tour.
We start this tour with optional hotel pickup. Then the first point to make our excursion is the Prat Pier, located in the city of Punta Arenas. We will embark on a modern tourist catamaran with a wide upper deck for passengers, we will start the Navigation to Magdalena Island to visit the Magellanic or Patagonian penguin.
For approximately 1 hour and a half we will enjoy the landscape that will insert us in the Strait of Magellan until we reach Magdalena Island. Once we arrive at the Magdalena Island dock, we will disembark and visit the penguin colony for approximately 1 hour. We will walk until we reach the old lighthouse, from where we will admire a spectacular view of the landscape.
After this, we embark again but this time to start the return to the Punta Arenas pier. Finally, the passengers are transported to their hotel in the city, as long as they have purchased the Navigation Magdalena Island with transfer. The other passengers are left at the Prat Pier.
It is very important to keep in mind that this activity can be affected by weather conditions, so it is not advisable to choose the Navigation to Magdalena Island for the last day of your visit to the Patagonia, in order to be able to reschedule the activity if the weather does not allow the boat to sail.
