You deserve a break! Why not celebrate south of the border? During the Blaxit of 2020, many Black Americans moved to Mexico. From Merida and Mexico City to Riveria Maya, the country remains a safe haven for People of Color. 

At the Magically Melanated Getaway, you will experience some of Mexico's Magic. You'll enjoy authentic Mexican food, rest and relax, cruise the Caribbean Sea, have time to truly be present, meet other travelers of color, and strike a pose for our Beach Photo Shoot.  

Your group will stay in luxury accommodations with a beautiful indoor-outdoor living space, a private chef, daily cleaning,  and private beach access. Your host Annette has been based in the Riviera Maya for years and has meticulously curated this getaway. She's making sure that every fat-positive detail is tended to, which gives you plenty of time to focus on rest, relaxation, community, food, and fun! 

Your Getaway was created with the intention of supporting the local artists and businesses. Along with a host, you'll work with a Local Guide and Driver during your day trips. Instead of an all-inclusive resort, you'll stay in a beautiful locally-owned villa. Your Getaway will support local artists and businesses, as well as Black-Owned businesses and experiences.

The Magically Melanated Getaway is a unique opportunity for fat women of color to connect in a safe space with other travel lovers. 

This Getaway is perfect for the traveler who wants to learn about history, culture, and food from the local community. As well as the realities of living abroad as a person of color. 

Activity Level: 2 out of 5

Everyone has different mobility levels and we want to be as transparent about accessibility as possible. We also want to remind you that all of the activities are voluntary. 

There will be standing for more than 30 minutes. Including while we wait for the Cozumel Ferry. You will visit a cenote where you will be able to swim or stand. While snorkeling is not mandatory, those who choose to snorkel must be strong swimmers. 

All deposits are non-refundable. 

If you cancel within 90 days of the getaway you will receive a 75% refund minus the non-refundable deposit. 

If you cancel within 60 days of the getaway you will receive a 50% refund minus the non-refundable deposit. 

If you cancel within 31-59 days of the getaway you will receive a 25% refund minus the non-refundable deposit. 

If you cancel less than 30 days before the getaway you will not receive a refund. 

If we cancel the getaway you will receive a full refund. 

In the event of illness, injury, or other extenuating circumstances affecting the trip, the departure will be rescheduled. If you can not attend during the new dates, you will receive a refund and your deposit will be transferred.
