B – Sunday
Isabela Island
AM – After breakfast onboard
URBINA BAY (ISABELA): Wet landing on Urbina Bay. We’ll take a 2-hour hike along a 1-kilometer trail of sandy and rocky terrain, where you can spot coral formations and seashells above sea level—evidence of past volcanic uplift. Along the way, you’ll see a large colony of land iguanas, Darwin’s finches, and, between June and September, giant tortoises. You may also encounter flightless cormorants. Enjoy snorkeling from the beach before returning to the yacht for lunch.
PM – After lunch
TAGUS COVE (ISABELA): Dry landing. In the 1800s, this natural harbor was used by whalers, who carved the names of their ships into the cliffs. The visit begins at the shore with a climb up a wooden staircase, leading to a trail through a forest of Palo Santo trees and onward to Darwin Lake, a saltwater lagoon inside an extinct volcanic crater. We’ll hike around the lake, through the area’s distinctive dry vegetation, to reach a viewpoint with panoramic vistas of Darwin and Wolf Volcanoes. The hike lasts about 2 hours, ascending from sea level to 50 meters. Afterward, a dinghy (panga) ride along the coastline offers opportunities to spot Galápagos penguins, flightless cormorants, blue-footed boobies, pelicans, and Sally Lightfoot crabs. Snorkeling from the beach wraps up the afternoon before returning onboard.
