Su inaccesibilidad ha preservado su belleza natural y la convierte en un refugio para la vida marina. La isla es famosa por sus corrientes ricas en nutrientes que atraen a grandes congregaciones de tiburones, incluyendo tiburones martillo, tiburones de Galápagos, tiburones ballena y tiburones sedosos. Además, Malpelo es hogar de enormes bancos de peces pelágicos, como atunes y jureles, así como mantarrayas y otras especies marinas impresionantes.

The island is renowned for its nutrient-rich currents that attract large gatherings of sharks, including hammerhead sharks, Galápagos sharks, whale sharks, and silky sharks.
