I am new (less than 6 months) at birding. My partner has been exploring and viewing birds for over 30 years so finding a tour that would cater to the both of us; especially out of the US we thought would be challenging. Lugo, our guide, was absolutely perfect. He was punctual, friendly and so knowledgable. He came prepared, snacks, water, his laser pointer, camera and binoculars. We were off early and had a fabulous time finding so many colorful and beautiful birds. Lunch was in a cool palapa with homemade authentic cuisine, homemade tortillas and plenty of aqua fresca. If you are a newbie or a longtime birder, I think Contoy tours has something for everyone. We took this tour in February 2022. Since then we have taken a few other tours outside the US for birding. Lugo, far and away was my favorite. His English is solid. He knows his birds. He loves what he does and it is infectious. Thank you Contoy and Lugo for the wonderful day and experience.

We had an amazing time exploring the lagoon and searching for crocodiles, iguanas, birds and other wildlife! Carlos did everything he could to ensure we saw as many animals as possible and was very informative about all the creatures we saw. Not to mention we got to stop and take in the beautiful sunset! Would highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Cancun.

This was one of my best birding experiences. Carlos was a great guide for the trip, and we recorded 52 species (with fantastic photo opportunities) in just 3 hrs. Carlos knew the exact hotspots and it was so much fun. 20 #lifers for me which I was not expecting at all in this season. I would strongly recommend this trip whether you are new to birding or a seasoned birder. Great photo ops also with birds at eye level. Again, an excellent morning, well spent.

He instantly identifies any and all birds by eye or sound. The website says you might see 20 birds but that's a low estimate. We saw 69 species (Mid-April, half day tour) and heard more. There is coffee and water provided and a pit stop for lunch (which fortunately doesn't stop too long cause we all know we are there for the birds!). Carlos also customizes the route to fit your experience; more species if your new to the area or targeted species for the seasoned visitor. All around wonderful.
