Join Art of Islamic Pattern, in collaboration with the Reed Society for the Sacred Arts, for three days of Islamic pattern and traditional craft in Washington DC.
10:00am–4:30pm
The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum
A full day of geometric and biomorphic pattern drawing using traditional compass-and-straightedge techniques. The programme features a new selection of drawings not previously taught in our Washington DC classes, alongside selected patterns from our New York programme.
Suitable for complete beginners and returning students.
Diyanet Center of America
For the first time in the United States, we will be teaching our complete two-day marquetry workshop.
Participants will work with beautiful natural hardwood veneers and decorative wood banding, learning how to cut precise geometric forms, use specialist tools and assemble the individual pieces into an intricate geometric artwork.
All specialist materials, woods and equipment are provided.
At the end of the weekend, your completed composition will be glued and clamped. We will then cut, sand and finish the panel after the workshop and post the completed artwork to you approximately one week later.
Choose from:
Full 3-Day Programme — 11–13 June
Marquetry Weekend — 12–13 June
Friday Drawing Day — 11 June
All abilities welcome. No previous drawing, woodworking or marquetry experience is required.
Marquetry places are limited due to the specialist equipment and individual tuition required.
