On June 24, 1981 six children witnessed the Blessed Virgin Mary on what is now known as Apparition Hill in the peaceful and historical town of Medjugorje. The apparition had a message of peace for the world, as well as a call to conversion, prayer and fasting. Mike Nolan, who first traveled to Medjugorje in 1990, has been leading pilgrims there since 2005. On May 13, 2019 the Holy See officially announced that Dioceses and Parishes throughout the world are now authorized to organize pilgrimages to Medjugorje. To date, over 40+ million people have visited this peaceful pilgrimage site.

Medjugorje is beautiful in its simplicity and peace. It is a place where the veil between heaven and earth is very thin. In this sacred place, Our Lady will invite you under her mantle to learn to pray with the heart. She will draw you close to her Son to receive His healing love through Holy Mass, Confession, and prayer. On this pilgrimage, you will be led to embrace your identity as a beloved child of God, who, filled with the Holy Spirit, is commissioned to carry Our Lady's message of peace and conversion to the world.

Fr. Svet says in his book entitled Pilgrimage, “A pilgrimage is a journey, assigned by God. It brings the pilgrim not only to a physical place, but out of himself, and into the presence of God. All else falls away. There is only the child, his Father, and eternity…” This is really why we are being called to make such a journey. A “body language” that speaks loudly and clearly to God. “Father, I want to know you!”

Thank you Mike Nolan and Katie Reis for leading us on an epic pilgrimage! This is my 2nd trip with Shadow on the Water in 7 months!! That alone should assure anyone contemplating going to Medjugorje that you want to book your trip with SOTW!!! Our immediate family went in October and it was a great grace to be with my husband and two adult children. We loved it! When this trip was being organized in January I knew that I was being called by our Lady to her school of prayer and peace. Mike has been traveling to Medjugorje for over 2 decades and his love and knowledge of Medjugorje is engaging, refreshing and spirit filled. His love of Our Lady and Jesus is a gift as he lead us many mornings with holy reflections , his beautiful music and the rosary. Mike makes sure that there are no "adults" traveling with him. He reminds us to go with the flow and to be guided by Our Lady as a child. And we had several opportunities to play in Mary's playground. One night he lead us in an amazing night of worship and there was no one that wasn't sweating or sitting down. We were singing, jumping, laughing and letting go and letting Jesus love us and nourish us as we praised His Holy Name. I loved traveling with great friends and meeting new ones from the US and other countries. The universal church is alive in the spirit in Medjugorje!! From the liturgies at St. James, Confessions, Apparition Hill, Cross Mountain , Blue Cross, Resurrected Jesus, Adoration at the Oasis of Peace, and visiting the Castle, Cenacolo Community just to name a few highlights of the days in this holy place ... you will always find the peace that Our Lady wants to give you and graces you didn't even ask for. She asks that we pray with the heart so she can lead us to deeper conversion and intimacy with her Son. I can't possibly mention all the special moments of this pilgrimage. As one of our dear priests said we went from lily pad to lily pad of grace. Thank you again Mike and Katie for all your love, energy and organization to make this a trip of lifetime!!! PS: And when you have given your day in prayer don't forget to stop for a red juice at Burrito and have a meal and share a laugh with Tedziano at Beirut Resto -Cafe. Delicious food and fellowship. I love Medjugorje so much! I can't wait to go again in the near future!!!

It was a glimpse of heaven! Pure joy, grace upon grace, Mike was an amazing tour guide as was Ivana! They tap into the spirit rather than just giving facts. Every moment feels like prayer. The group was incredible! We were all different and yet became family. Toni and his family are very welcoming and humble. We did not feel overwhelmed during this trip. We went where the HS led when he called. Loved that Mike does not overwhelm the schedule. There’s enough to do something with an opportunity of downtime. Speakers were amazing and the entire pilgrimage was filled with beautiful surprises. My husband and I agree that we would like to return for another pilgrimage with shadow on the water. Best pilgrimage ever!

This pilgrimage was very well organized allowing us time to participate with group events or do things on our own. Being first timers, we stayed with the group which we enjoyed as the teachings, praise & worship, prayer, mass attendance, and visiting holy sites were so enriching. The beds were comfortable, food was delicious, and fellowship was amazing. We experienced such peace while in Medjugorje and now are trying to bring that peace into our regular lives. We hope to join Shadow on the Water again soon.
