Start your day with an early breakfast. Once ready,  your drive to Kisoro (South Western Uganda) will begin. You will pass through the towns of Mbarara and Kabale and we will have a stop-over at the Equator line that separates the Northern and Southern hemispheres, a great opportunity for you to take photos and stretch your legs. Although it is a long drive, the offers magnificent views and is an experience itself. You will have a lunch break at Igongo Cultural Centre; after your tasty lunch, you will continue your journey to your destination, Kisoro. Settle in, enjoy dinner and get ready for tomorrow!

Today you will learn about the Indigenous Batwa, the UWA ranger/guide will take you through the trail in Mgahinga National Park. The dense forests on the foothills of the Virunga range used to be Batwa's comfortable home. During this adventure they will exhibit their ways of hunting, fire making, fetching water and gathering honey. The Batwa were the original inhabitants of the forests before Mgahinga and Bwindi Impenetrable was gazette into National Parks in 1991. The trail crowns with a performance in the Garama Cave, this engagement is there to support the community and improve their standard of living. After you will return to Ikoro hotel

4hr Batwa trail experience

This extinct volcano borders Congo & Rwanda, and on a clear day, the peak gives stunning views of all 3 countries. In the local language, Sabyinyo means OLD MAN’s TOOTH because its serrated summit resembles worn teeth in a gum line. Sabyinyo is part of the Virunga Mountains and it is its oldest "member". The slopes of Mt. Sabyinyo are the habitat of the endangered Mountain Gorillas and other animals. This challenging and beautiful hike requires physical fitness; the descend is easier but also challenging, as you will have to deal with the uneven terrain - extra care is required during adverse weather conditions.

This hike is a 9hour walk (depending on your pace); on this journey, a guide and a ranger from the Uganda Wildlife Authority will escort you. They know the place inside-out!

The endangered Golden Monkey is endemic to the Albertine Rift, and Mgahinga National Park offers the chance to track these unique creatures, high in the dense bamboo forests on the Gahinga trail. Today you will be transferred to Mgahinga NP for a briefing on what to expect during your search of the Golden Monkeys. Keep in mind these animals are found only in Uganda, Rwanda and Congo. 

Golden Monkeys are swift in their movements and you will follow them as they feed. They enjoy feeding on bamboo shoots, as well as fruits and vegetation. On this experience, a guide and a ranger from the Uganda Wildlife Authority will escort you. 

After the golden monkey experience, you will enjoy a break for lunch and soon after, you will take part in a coffee tour this tour covering the history, science, process and traditions behind coffee. A tasting of different coffee styles will test your knowledge!

3hr Golden monkey experience

2hr Coffee Tour

 The Mountain Gorilla trekking Rushaga area protects an estimated 400 Mountain Gorillas (roughly half of the world’s population) including several habituated groups which can be tracked. The biological diverse region also provides shelter to a further 120 mammals including several primate species like baboons, chimpanzees, as well as elephants and antelopes.

A ranger will escort you throughout your trek; the length of the hike may vary depending on the specific location of the Gorillas, once found you will be able to spend up to 1hr with them. Take a picnic lunch break before your gradual descent back to the meeting point where your driver-guide will transfer you again to the lodge, so you may reminisce on the day’s experience. Enjoy a delicious dinner and a good night sleep at the Gorilla Valley Lodge.

Today makes the end of the tour, after your morning breakfast you will embark on a journey back to Entebbe. Have a lunch break at the Equator.
