      About this trip

Join Malka and your Left Coast Family to Reset in Nature for four days and three nights with Plant Medicine from Peru, Hawaii and Brazil. Springtime is the perfect time to reset with this specific type of healing and growth. Our Plant Medicine Retreats are limited to just 15 participants for a carefully curated and individualized experience.

We have a beautiful leadership team of Malka, Ege, Adam, Miriam, Anthony and Rachel. We are excited to introduce everyone!

Malka has been leading these ceremonies for 11  years and trained extensively as a facilitator and was given permission to serve the medicine after doing extensive plant diets with the Yawanawa tribe of Brazil and the Shipibo tribe of Peru.  She is also initiated as a Priestess of Ifa and Osun and after a delicate dance to harmonize both traditions in right relationship, she uses the tools and resources of both her path with Ifa and with  the medicine  to guide her as a facilitator.

Our musician, Egeman Sanli (also known as Ege) is a contemporary dervish who embarks on a journey to find his own unique sound in the world while proudly representing his own unique Turkish heritage.  He skillfully blends various ethnic instruments such as the sitar, caglama, saz, santor, ngoni, flutes, kora and much more.

Our Second Musician Adam Kurzfeld is a singer songwriter, yoga instructor, massage therapist, doctoral Acupuncture student as well as student/practitioner of Ayurveda, and father of 2. His musical offerings range from original creations to Vedic mantras; Lakota songs to Hebrew chants, Kirtan music, and beyond. He is grateful to be a part of the effulgent healing web that connects all life on this verdant planet and beyond.

Anthony, One of our beloved guardians, has been in study as a ceremony guardian for over 2 years. He is an experienced yoga instructor who offers pre and post ceremony support through the ongoing use of breath, awareness, movement and meditation tools.

Miriam, our second beloved guardian, is a licensed acupuncturist and embodiment coach working at the intersection of Somatic and Spiritual Counseling. She is initiated to the tradition of Sri Vidya Lineage, Tantra Yoga and helps people heal their relationship with their body. Although her primary teacher is Grandfather medicine, she has been deepening in her 10 year relationship with medicineas a guardian for the past two years.

Rachel is the founder owner of Left Coast Power Yoga. With over 500 hours of Yoga training, and experience of training many yoga teachers, she brings her knowledge and experience to her yoga classes.

Our retreat begins Friday at noon and will go thru Monday around 1pm, and we will request that everyone to stay and assist with cleanup and camp breakdown.

Itinerary: Friday afternoon, arrive anytime between Noon and 5 pm to set up and enjoy a gentle Yin Yoga class. We will begin our first ceremony of the weekend around 8pm and it will go until 3am  in the Ceremony Yurt. Malka, Ege and Adam will guide us in a curated and healing Plamt Medicine ceremony accompanied by a variety of instruments for an immersive and healing experience. We offer a nourishing meal before sleep.

Saturday: Sleep in, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and meet for our Integration session at Noon, followed by a gentle yoga class. Relax the rest of the day in the redwood hot tub, take a gently rolling hike, or just rest and enjoy the surroundings and community. We will offer a restorative meditation in the afternoon, followed by the second of our two ceremonies, to deepen the healing that had began the previous night.

Sunday: Sleep in, enjoy a leisurely breakfast and meet for our Integration session at Noon, followed by a gentle yoga class. Relax the rest of the day in the redwood hot tub, take a rolling hike, or just rest and enjoy the surroundings and community.  Please note: if you would like to bring your partner and / or children up for the final night, post-medicine journey, please reach out and if space permits, this can be arranged.

Monday morning will open with breakfast, closing circle, and community cleanup. Folks are then welcome to relax on the property throughout the afternoon before heading back to the default world.

Please note: we will be offering a Community Potluck and Integration session about one month post-retreat to share your experience. Time and Date TBA.

Once your deposit has been put down, we will require a Waiver / Questionnaire to be filled out by all participants and a short intake interview to be conducted with Malka. We do not offer refunds on any of our trips.

      Fine print:

      - While we do not offer refunds, your tuition for the retreat is fully transferrable to another participant in the case that you need to cancel due to illness or unforeseen circumstances. You will be ultimately be responsible for finding this person, however, the facilitators will contact the waitlist and post to the Signal group on your behalf.

      - On a case by case basis and at the discretion of the facilitators, in the event of emergency, a portion of the funds, minus the $500 deposit, may be transferred to a future retreat.

      - Please note that we ALWAYS recommend protecting your retreat investment with travel insurance: we recommend Allianz Travel Insurance:  https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com

We are excited to meet you and gather with you soon. Note: the ceremony begins once you decide to join. Please be mindful of what your intentions are and what is arising in your life.  It is all a part of the ceremony.  Please be gentle with yourself and create practices witnessing the experience without responding. Meditation and Yoga are highly recommended. These tools of witnessing will be highly valuable in our ceremony weekend.

      With lots of Love,

Fantastic retreat! This was my first yoga retreat so I didn't know what to expect, and it was more than I could have asked for. Every morning we would do yoga right outside the palapa of our private house where you could see the ocean and hear the birds. We had a private chef who would make us breakfast, snacks, dinner, desserts, and amazing juice every day. Every day there were optional activities that you could participate in including whale watching, African dance class, cacao ceremony, mala necklace making, massage on the beach, and more. Rachel is beyond amazing, her energy and patience and organization of everything allowed me to relax into the experience and connect with the land and with the other wonderful people on the retreat. Would recommend this 100% and will absolutely be going on another one!

This was such a wonderful experience. I was blown away by the beauty of Chacala, the service of our staff, and the kindness and acceptance of not only the people I traveled with, but the town as well. I have so much gratitude for Rachel and Left Coast for coordinating everything and creating such an incredible experience. I would love to do a trip like this again.

I had a wonderful time! Rachel and Shirley were warm and welcoming and I felt included even though I did not know any of the other 16 or so folks on the trip before arriving. The retreat was extremely well organized from start to finish -- the schedule was clearly communicated each day and it was made sure we received the message about any adjustments quickly. The food was delicious, the location was beautiful (literally about 50 feet from the ocean!) and there were a good balance of activities and relaxation. Also, importantly it was quiet enough at night to sleep well. The only feedback I have is that I wish there were COVID precautions in place in the yoga studio, like ventilation and/or air filtration and social distancing (which I think would require a bigger studio). Otherwise, the trip was a success and I would absolutely join a destination retreat with Rachel and Shirley again.

I've taken many retreats with Rachel and Left Coast Power Yoga over the past seven years, and they keep getting better and better! Last weekend was so dialed in, from the daily practices and personal time to the food and communal clean-up. As a participant, I felt like part of the crew when needed, and was completely pampered when needed. It was the perfect blend. Rachel and her team always strive to make everyone feel loved, welcomed, and supported. Her retreats always attract an interesting crowd of past participants, studio members, and lucky folks that just happened to stumble across the opportunity to join the adventure. I highly recommend taking a journey with Rachel and Left Coast Power Yoga!
