About this trip

The 17 days long Mera Peak Climbing expedition tours you around the beautiful Khumbu Region where the majestic mountains and alluring landscapes treat your eyes. The trail that you follow throughout the adventure is quite similar to that of the Baruntse Expedition. You will traverse through some of the exotic flora and fauna and scenic villages before attempting to scale the snow-capped Mera Peak. Mera Peak, which stands at an elevation of 6476 meters (21247 feet), is the ultimate showdown of this wonderful expedition. Climbing Mera Peak has been the desire of many mountaineering enthusiasts over the years. Situated in the Mahalangur section of the Himalaya, Mera Peak contains three main summits: Mera North (6476m), Mera Central (6461m), and Mera South (6065m). The climbing route then passes through the south of Lukla to the traditional village of Hinku. There on, you will get close to Sherpa cultural villages, ancient Buddhist Monasteries, and rugged terrains.

My Langtang Valley, Gosainkunda Lake trek with Nepal Social Treks was overall a very good time. The valley, lakes, high pass, and climbing Cherko Ri are beautiful and challenging but all so well worth the effort. It was a pleasure to do this trek with Prem as my guide. His knowledge and attention to every detail along the way was fabulous. He kept us on a perfect pace throughout the trek and always with a great sense of humour and positive attitude. He was a pleasure to have as a guide. Thanks to all at Nepal Social for making it a great trek. Cheers

Words cannot express how grateful I am to have travelled with Nepal Social Treks. From beginning to end, I felt safe and cared for - a fete as a solo black female traveller. In February I travelled to Everest Base Camp with Nepal Social Treks. I survived the ‘most dangerous flight in the world’, trekked across beautiful terrain at high altitudes, reaching beautiful settlements including Namche Bazaar, Gorakshep and Everest Base Camp. A once in a lifetime experience that I recommend to all. My tour guide Biznu was exceptionally experienced and well practised on the terrain. It was amazing to see first hand the skill of an experienced Nepali tour guide. I would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to the porters, who carried what we could not at high altitudes and never forgot or broke anything. Nepal Social Trekking provided excellent kit, including a duffle for clothes and sleeping bag to cover up to -20 degrees. After travelling to Everest Base Camp, Nepal Social Treks went above and beyond - by helping to arrange a trip for me to Pokhara. In which I was able to experience another side to Nepal, the beautiful lakes and caves available. My experience throughout (from initially enquiry email, to my flight home) I felt personally taken care of. A special thank you to Sushila and Luna. A massive thank you to Basu - you have founded an amazing company.

Difficult paths, cold nights, very nice views, rustic lodges, few people. Authentic Nepal, like in the nineties.
