Let's climb the highest trekking peak in the Khumbu Valley! At 21,247 feet high, Mera is taller than Alaska's Mount Denali...but much, much easier! Crampons and ice axe is required and may be rented, but no prior glacier travel or mountaineering skills are needed. We'll teach everything you need to know during the trip! Following Mera, we'll head over 19,177 ft Amphu Laptsa pass (a "bonus" pass!), and then descend to the lovely village of Chukhung. From there it's a short walk to Dingboche, where you descend on the normal Everest Base Camp route via Namche Bazaar and back to Lukla.
This trip requires a solid level of fitness. While not mandatory, prior high-elevation experience is recommended (EBC is good, a prior peak above 19,000 like Kilimanjaro, Lobuche East, Cotopaxi, Island Peak, etc is better).
We'll stay in tea houses for most of the trek, but will be in tents at Mera's high camp the evening before our summit attempt. You'll need a very warm sleeping bag and appropriate cold weather clothing, crampons, mountaineering boots, and a helmet, all which may be rented in Nepal if desired.
Dave Ashley, Mount Everest/7 summits climber will be the trip leader for this adventure.
Dash Adventures highly recommends trip cancellation insurance for all programs. Due to the nature and heavy costs of government and operator permits, Dash Adventures must adhere to a stringent refund policy.
